What is Kaleidoscope and why is it different?

"'Kaleidoscope is a four voice, multitimbral digital synthesizer'. That’s an example of a description that is at once completely technically accurate but ultimately explains so little about an instrument that it is practically useless.

While Kaleidoscope can be used as 4 independent digital voices, those voices live in an environment where the parameters, modulation and sound of one voice can affect each of the others. Systems involving cross modulation and feedback can lead to shifting rhythms, strange interactions and sonic mayhem.

Combining additive, subtractive, FM and physical modelling, it can groove, it can drone, be soft and ambient or angry and aggressive all while inviting you to think about music making in a new way.
