Getting Started: Modifying CV with attenuators and offset modules

video upload by Noise Engineering

"Control voltage doesn't always need to be used exactly as it's generated. Sometimes, making small adjustments to a CV signal is the key to getting the sound you're after.

This video is part of our Getting Started blog post:

One of the most common ways to modify CV is with attenuation.

Here, an LFO is modulating one of the Blendex inputs on Toros. At full strength, the modulation is dramatic. By attenuating the LFO signal using a module like Lapsus Os, we reduce its voltage range, creating a much more subtle effect.

Next, we’ll switch Lapsus Os into bipolar mode with a flip of the channel’s switch.

And then there's offset.

Here, we're using Sinc Pr avus to add an offset to the same LFO. The modulation keeps its shape, but its entire voltage range shifts, changing where it begins and how it interacts.

Whether you're using Lapsus Os to fine-tune modulation or Sinc Pravus to shift it into a different range, modifying your control voltage gives you more expressive and precise control over your patches.
