Synthfest | UK 2026 - The Roland System 700 Recreated

video upload by Starsky Carr

"Analogue Solutions have built a full-scale recreation of the Roland System 700, and it is enormous. This is the Series 700, demoed at Synthfest UK 2026 by Tom Carpenter of Analogue Solutions - in production, available to order now, and about £33,000 for the complete system.

It sits alongside the Colossus and the Maximus as one of those instruments most of us will only ever see at a show. I've had both of those in here, and this is the same league: wooden cabinets, full-size jacks, and a huge amount of custom-made parts because almost nothing off the shelf would do.

What Tom walks through:

The main cab - a complete synthesizer in its own right, partially pre-patched
The sequencer
The oscillator bank: six oscillators
Filters and VCAs
Accessory blocks: phaser, delay and extra filters
How you can start with the main block and add the side blocks over time
Why it costs what it costs

Crucially, this isn't vapourware or a crowdfunding promise. It's in production now.

About the sound: same problem as my Loom video - my radio mic had silently reset itself to not record, so Tom's audio is gone. I've subtitled his side of the conversation instead. Apologies, but the synth is worth seeing."
