The Relic: Some of the Most Expressive Analog Sounds I've Ever Played
video upload by Anthony Marinelli Music
Follow-up to this post.
"I sat down with prodigy synthesizer designer Jacob Brashears to explore his remarkable new analog synthesizer, the Relic. Rather than doing a traditional demonstration, I wanted to discover what this instrument could do by creating original sounds for it and performing them for Jacob, shaping and exploring them together in real time.
What immediately struck me about the Relic was its extraordinary expressiveness. From delicate, evolving textures to rich, powerful tones full of movement and character, I found myself creating some of the most expressive analog synthesizer sounds I've ever heard.
Throughout our session, you'll hear us play, listen, experiment, and make adjustments as the sounds evolve. We talk a little about the instrument and what makes its design unique, but most of our time is spent making music, following our ears, and discovering new possibilities.
One of the things I love most about a great musical instrument is that it can lead you somewhere completely unexpected. A small adjustment can change the character of a sound, inspire a new musical phrase, or take a performance in an entirely different direction. The Relic is especially exciting to me because of how naturally it invites any performer to find something new about themself!"
