Next Superbass 4.4 analog synth

via this auction

"Next Superbass 4.4 analog synthesizer. This was part of the TB-303 clone wars of the late nineties manufactured by Music and More of Bavaria. The Superbass is a monophonic synth featuring selectable square and sawtooth waveforms with a sub-oscillator(similar to mc-202).It features master tune, and Env PWM. The filter consists of Cutoff resonance andEnv Mod.There is a VCA/VCF accent knob and Envelope decay .A distortion and volume knob conclude the front panel. 7 out of the 10 knobs transmit MIDI CC data for endless automation possibillities The back of the unit features MIDI in, out , thru a 1/4 inch out and a filter resonance trimmer pot. This piece can produce a wide range of sounds not just 303ish squelches, Because of the Sub oscillator I was able to get good low end basslines. There is also an Autoslide switch which sort of mimics the 303's glide but not quite as good. This synth is great by it's own but can also be very complimentary to another synth, being sequenced side by side for a Duophonic/Polyphonic type sound."

NEXT SPACEBASS 3.3

Note the MIDI dip switch and VCF In.

"The Next! Spacebass 3.3 is the best Roland TB-303 clone there is! The analog circuitry is based almost entirely on single transistors which make these units sound absolutely authentic. The control interfaces are built around the original 303 design for easy on-the-fly use. The sounds generated by analog bass synths come from two types of waveforms, Saw and Square, which can be mixed for a large number of sound possibilities. The SpaceBass 3.3 features a 24 dB low pass filter, through which the sound passes to create various effects, can be modulated with Cutoff, Resonance, and Envelope Modulation. The decay time and accent are variable from 120 velocity. There is a separate VCF input for routing any audio signal through the filters...perfect for warming up drum loops! By the way the Next! Spacebass 3.3 was manufactured under several different names such as the FAT Freebass FB383 or the MAM MB33, but they are all the same synth with the same circuitry. They are all perfect TB-303 recreations and sound fat and acidy!"

Next! Superbass 4.4 Demo (aka mam MB33 mkII)

YouTube via jkselsyn.

"A midi analog synthesizer performed with a step sequencer (off camera). "Next!" is a Stanton brand that produced a series of midi equipment for DJ use. This product is a re-branded MAM (Music-And-More) MB33 mkII made in Bavaria.

It tries to sound like a TB-303 but it falls short compared to the real thing. (It's still useable.) The first slow sequence has long notes playing the synth. What you hear is the longest possible note length the synth can produce."

Next SuperBass 4.4

Title link takes you to shots via this auction.

"100% analog. Imho the best 303 emulation, but it also goes beyond that with extras like sub oscillator and distortion. Also has filter input in the back, which allows you to play a sounds through the sweet filter section of the unit. Knobs send MIDI, unit responds to CC data. Has autoslide legato on/off for those TB 303 lines."

I'm curious how many TB-303 clones there were. Feel free to comment on the ones you know.
