Analogue Solutions AS500-SEQ | 64-Step Sequencer with Fusebox X and ARP Omni

video upload by rezfilter

"The AS500-SEQ 64-step analogue sequencer is pulling double duty here — clocking the Fusebox X and modulating the filter on a vintage ARP Omni. No notes are being sequenced — the AS500-SEQ is used strictly for modulation and clock duties.

The Omni is played live by hand, and the Fusebox X bass pitch is manually triggered live using the Interval Generator (IG).

Captured live and recorded live — no MIDI.

In this setup: the AS500-SEQ handles clock and filter modulation, the Fusebox X brings the synth tone, and the ARP Omni delivers the vintage textures."

Analogue Solutions AS500-SEQ Driving a Vintage ARP Odyssey | 64-Step CV Sequencer Demo

video upload by rezfilter

"AS500-SEQ connected to a vintage ARP Odyssey.
It’s sending gate and CV to the Odyssey and clock to the Arturia DrumBrute. Tempo and start/stop are controlled directly from the sequencer.

X, Y, and Jump switches are triggered live to modify the sequence. CV is also patched into the Odyssey’s Pedal input for subtle shifts.

Glide from the AS500-SEQ is active throughout.
The DrumBrute’s audio is fed into the Odyssey’s External Input."

Ample Synthesizer: Sweeping Cutoff with Built-In Echo
video upload by rezfilter

"This patch on the Ample Synthesizer features a multi-oscillator sequence running via its onboard sequencer. The resonance is set high to highlight the harmonic character of the filter as I sweep the cutoff frequency. You’ll hear how the onboard echo effect adds depth and movement to the sound. I’m also using the touchpads, each preset to a different cutoff value via its dedicated pot, allowing for quick and expressive tonal changes throughout the sequence."

Maximus 4V Polyphonic Analogue Synthesizer | Live Multi-Part Synth Jam

video upload by Analogue Solutions

"Here's a live, one-take recording using the Maximus 4V polyphonic analogue synthesizer from Analogue Solutions (‪@rezfilter‬ )

All synth parts are coming straight from the Maximus 4V — no external synths, no edits, no overdubs.

Percussion sounds are handled by a 2600 bass drum and vintage Concussor drum modules, original designs from Analogue Solutions.

This high-tempo synthpop/electro track is built entirely from hardware and captured live in the moment. Maximus 4V is an inspiration!"

Ample Synthesizer Sequenced by 64-Step Analog Sequencer (AS500-SEQ)

video upload by rezfilter

"Here’s a quick, dawless jam using the Ample Synthesizer and the AS500-SEQ 64-step sequencer. It’s a 3-oscillator patch where two of the oscillators are getting their pitch modulated separately by the sequencer, giving it a nice moving feel. You’ll hear some GLIDE on one of the oscillators at the start — making the notes slide around a bit — and later I dial it back for a tighter sound."

Ample Synth - Dark Industrial Patch with Filter Overdrive | Analogue Solutions

video upload by rezfilter

"Dark industrial patch on the Ample Synth from Analogue Solutions. The bassline steps in an uneven pattern while the cutoff is moved by hand. Pitch shifts come in through the touch pads, patched into the matrix. A second oscillator gets added to the filter, and later the envelope generators tighten up the shape. Nothing polished — just a heavy, gritty sound built straight from the hardware."

Analogue Solutions Ample Synthesizer | Selected Patches

video upload by rezfilter

"Here’s a selection of patches created entirely on the Analogue Solutions Ample synthesizer — no external effects, no added distortion. Just pure Ample.

Ample combines the best elements from several AS products:

-The rich sound engine of Fusebox
-The jack patch points of Concussor Eurorack
-The patch pin matrix of Vostok
-The built-in echo from Dr Strangelove
-The sequencer and CV touch pads from Generator

While it draws from these classics, Ample has a character all its own.

It can be as simple or as deep as you want it to be.

Ample is packed with a wide and diverse range of controls, giving even the most experienced synthesists endless possibilities through both knobs and patch sockets.

At the same time, its familiar layout makes it easy for newcomers to jump in and start creating powerful, musical sounds — especially when paired with this manual and other resources."

Ample Synthesizer Arpeggios Triggered via MIDI

video upload by rezfilter

"There are Ample arps in this video—but don’t let their simplicity fool you. MIDI is driving a minimal arpeggio pattern while the Ample’s oscillators are gradually blended in for added depth, including a thick, grounding sub-oscillator."

Analogue Solutions Ample Synth | Touchpad Synthpop Lead

video upload by rezfilter

"Ample’s built-in sequencer is doing the heavy lifting in this synthpop-ready lead patch, driving a rhythmically pulsing pattern with just the right amount of motion. The touchpad brings the performance to life by modulating both oscillator pitch and filter frequency in real time, adding expressive nuance to an otherwise tightly quantized sequence. All routing and modulation are handled directly in the matrix, keeping things flexible and intuitive."

Ample Synthesizer from Analogue Solutions | Resonant Touch Bass

video upload by rezfilter

"Here’s a deep, resonant bass patch crafted on the Ample Synthesizer. The cutoff frequency is being modulated in real time using the synth’s touchpad interface, which has pre-assigned values mapped to key modulation points. On the Ample, each touchpad can be “pinned” to virtually any parameter, offering expressive, hands-on control over your sound. In this patch, that means fluid, tactile shaping of the filter cutoff, adding movement and character to the bass."

Analogue Solutions Ample Synthesizer Now Available

Analogue Solutions Ample Synthesizer -- All Sounds Ample video upload by rezfilter

"Here's a little retro track I put together using only the Ample synth from Analogue Solutions. All parts were sequenced or played live from the Ample, utilizing the onboard Patternator sequencer throughout.

Ample begs to be touched, sequenced, pinned, and played. It's a culmination of all great things from AS."

Analogue Solutions announces availability of Ample as ANALOGUE 3 VCO PATCH PIN SYNTHESISER blending best of past and present products

SHATTERFORD, UK: after a successful soft-launch at SynthFest 2023 in Sheffield, UK on October 7, British boutique electronic instruments innovator Analogue Solutions is proud to announce availability of Ample to a wider audience as a desktop-friendly ANALOGUE 3 VCO PATCH PIN SYNTHESISER — beautifully blending the best elements of several of its past and present products to form a truly analogue modular system skilfully presented as a precision- engineered electronic musical instrument in a spacious (550mm x 262mm x 83mm) steel and aluminium case that also embraces ergonomic features such as VESA mount compliance, should desktop space be at a premium, all of which adds up to being a perfect fit for its appropriate appellation — as of November 29…

Ample adheres to Analogue Solutions’ tried-and-tested no-compromise construction formula, featuring a full rugged steel and aluminium case — no plastic mouldings here; high-quality metal potentiometers with smooth action, fully sealed against dust intrusion; high-quality knobs with spun aluminium caps; high-quality double-sided circuit boards; high-quality 16-bit DAC (Digital-to-Analogue Convertor) for stable MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) to CV (Control Voltage) conversion; stable analogue oscillators; gold-plated touch plates; plus true retro analogue voice and modulation circuits to give an authentic retro sound. Since Analogue Solutions’ innovative instruments are applauded for proudly possessing a truly vintage sound — synthesisers featuring fully-analogue audio paths with analogue LFOs (Low Frequency Oscillators) and EGs (Envelope Generators), in other words, Ample is in good company as an ANALOGUE 3 VCO PATCH PIN SYNTHESISER.

But by beautifully blending the best elements of several past and present products — namely, the sound elements of Fusebox fabricated originally as an aptly-named, three-VCO (Voltage-Controlled Oscillator) true analogue monophonic synthesiser that favourably fuses the company’s characterful vintage sound with an advanced choice of modulation and melodic possibilities in a beautifully-built box; the jack points introduced in the long-discontinued line of Concussor modular synth drum modules (themselves dating back to the time when Analogue Solutions was the third company to start producing Eurorack format-compatible modules, magical as that might sound in today’s ever-expanding era of thousands of Eurorack modules being produced by hundreds — if not thousands — of developers, both bigger and smaller); the patch pin matrix introduced in the long-lasting Vostok semi-modular synthesiser series (that knowingly nodded and winked at its Russian ‘roots’ from a visual standpoint); the lo-fi echo featured in Dr Strangelove as a small and affordable desktop signal processor (that ushered in Analogue Solutions’ so-called synthBlocks series); and last, but by no means least, the sequencer and CV touch plates introduced in Generator as a highly-versatile multi-channel analogue step sequencer — to form a truly analogue modular system skilfully presented as a precision-engineered electronic musical instrument is what really makes Ample stand out amongst Analogue Solutions’ present-day products.

Put it this way: while Ample shares all of those features from some of Analogue Solutions’ ‘greatest hits’, it still has a sound of its own thanks to the circuits on offer: OSCILLATING is handled by three analogue VCOs (Voltage-Controlled Oscillators), each providing a wealth of features and modulation choices, with the VCO3/LFO 1 legend visually highlighting that the third oscillator can easily be utilised as an LFO (with saw, square, and triangle wave modulation signals), while LFO2/SYNC has a triangle wave output to total two LFOs; the LP VCF (Voltage-Controlled Filter) section is anchored around a four-pole 24dB-per-octave low-pass filter; the VCA (Voltage-Controlled Amplifier) can be set to THRU so it is always ‘open’ (allowing Ample to be used as an effect processor); the two envelope generators — EG 1 and EG 2 — each offer full control over ATTACK, DECAY, SUSTAIN, and RELEASE; extensive modulation routing choices allow for a wide range of resultant sounds extending into percussion and ‘modular’ territory, further extended by patching with the jack sockets and pin matrix; MIDI is intentionally kept simple so users can concentrate on creating new sounds and making music, with all- important control over filter cutoff available via MIDI Velocity; patchable CV control sockets allow the synth in question to effectively be rewired to make new sounds, as well as easily patched together with external Eurorack and other modular systems; the PATTERNATOR is a vintage-style 16-step sequencer; the six touch plates each output a set voltage, so can be used to pitch notes or as modulation signals — either way, they are truly inspirational in action; the pin matrix represents a neat (and flexible) way to patch the synth; and the ECHO section provides easy access to adding a little lo-fi echo or delay.

Audio applications abound when working with Ample as a synthesiser — excelling at analogue sound effects, as well as fat basses, screaming leads, and all manner of other crazy sounds associated with analogue synthesis; an effect processor — perfect for feeding external sounds through the onboard analogue filter and ECHO sections via external audio inputs; a drum synthesiser — suited to producing electronic percussion, including cymbal, hi-hat, kick, and snare sounds; and as a modular synthesiser — partially pre-patched, but with such a wide range of modulation routing possibilities that it is almost as versatile as a full-blown modular system, and capable of producing the same types of sounds but dispensing with telephone exchange-like cabling confusion in favour of making space-saving connections with removable coloured pins, yet still providing a flexible selection of patch sockets so it can quickly be re-patched into itself or to/from external Eurorack and other modular systems.

It is also worth noting in conclusion that while Ample can be used with an external MIDI keyboard or DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), or an external CV keyboard or analogue sequencer, it is equally at home being worked with on its own using its internal step sequencer or pitch played via its six-touch plate ‘keyboard’. Whatever way anyone chooses to work with Ample, it could conceivably be argued that it is the best desktop synth of all — Analogue Solutions-wise or otherwise!

Limited quantities of Ample are already available to purchase directly from Analogue Solutions for £1,999.00 GBP (excluding tax/VAT) via its dedicated webpage (https://www.analoguesolutions.com/ample) while stock will soon be arriving at selected dealers (https://www.analoguesolutions.com/dealers).

Analogue Solutions Colossus Nighttime Jam

video upload by rezfilter

"What's this then?

Here's a little playing about on the Colossus AS-100 from this past weekend.

The live playing is being actively captured by Colossus's note sequencer on the touch key bed, which is then subsequently started - running in parallel with the 64-note step sequencer.

I believe this performance used 5 of the synth's 12 oscillators, and only 2 of its 8 filters, which in this video are being overdriven hard.

With its vast patching, pinning, modulation, and sequencing capabilities, you can be as simple or as complex as necessary to fit your application.

It never ceases to amaze me."

"This is a Colossus owner's (@rezfilter ) collection of spontaneous sequences, sounds, and patches created on the Colossus Synthesizer.

The clips in this video were not captured with a high-fidelity audio interface, and in most cases, were recorded with a mobile device for posterity purposes.

They are too fun not to share. ✌️"

Leipzig V3 Sound Demo (Extended!)

video by rezfilter

"The new Leipzig V3 synthesizer has arrived for 2021.

Taking its cues from the legendary and distinctive Leipzig line of synthesizers, the V3 is truly 'evolutionary' and now features the same convenient footprint as our acclaimed Impulse Command desktop synthesizer - while capturing the same raw, ballsy, complexly rich sound as its Leipzig predecessors.

Version 3 combines features from both the Leipzig-SK as well as the mountable Leipzig v2, including patch points for additional sound design and connection possibilities. For example, you can drive the synth via an external CV sequencer or patch it to other modules in your Eurorack case.

This demo features a variety of sound samples (patched and unpatched, sequenced and unsequenced) from the Leipzig V3. Watch this space for more videos and visit our website for more detailed information."

Colossus Happy Holidays 2020

rezfilter

"Without an actual tree in 2020, Colossus fits the bill to accommodate all of my blingy and kitschy Christmas ornamentations! Here's a little December sequence I wanted to capture before changing my patching. All Colossus of course, and all in a single take without a DAW! It's the best synth that won't fit under any tree!

Stay synthy, and let's hope for a better year in 2021!

✌️"

Customer report:- Yesterday, on July 14th 2020, I received delivery of my Analogue Solutions Colossus mega synth -- and I can officially confirm that synthesizers like this only come around once in a decade, or possibly a generation.

It is at once: enormously impressive, and it begs to be touched, fondled, turned, pinned (matrix), patched, and played.

In my short time with this sonic work of art, the Analogue Solutions Colossus is indeed a dream synth that is wrapped in a meticulously formed wooden case.

I love it, and I look forward to sharing it with you soon. -Rez

More Random Studio Chaos...with Analogue Synths and Sequencers

Published on May 15, 2020 rezfilter

"Here's some more live random studio chaos. It's more analogue sequencer jamming, where all synths and sequencers are being fed high octane CV.

Nothing is mixed in a DAW or processed, but is simply recorded via a summing mixer.

Scattered Analogue Solutions' Impulse Command, Vostok 2020, Fusebox, Nyborgs 12 and 24, and another Telemark snare this time around...

Generator and Oberkorns are running the sequencing duties per usual."
