"The Synclavier was an earlier sampler / synthesizer of the late 1970s and 1980s. It is a remarkable beast that can make truly astounding noises. A sound design company donated one of these venerable tanks to Ryerson University's RTA department several years ago. No one knew how to operate it, and it has languised in storage ever since. This semester in 2008, three brave and noble students in Sound Synthesis (Colin Jennison, Gabe Knox, and Milan Schramek) have taken it upon themselves to resurrect this fine beast, and this page shall document their work and progress in this grand and challenging endeavour.
Here you will find links to photos and their final paper on the subject. Assuming the beast does come back to life, here you will also find links to some of the audio produced.
- Henry Warwick, February 2008."
