FLAME MÄANDER 2.0 - MIDI Tutorial #TTNM

THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"Here's a tutorial video on how to set up and use the Mäander's MIDI features.

♥ SUPPORT: http://bit.ly/ttnm-support

The Mäander provides both MIDI input and output on separate MIDI channels for the polyphonic synth and the percussion parts (input, noise and filter band envelopes). You can also define what MIDI data is received and sent. The two MIDI input sockets at the back of the device let you attach two different controllers or sequencers, to separately play the synth, the filter bank and to send program change commands. It's very easy to set up und flexible :-) "

FLAME MÄANDER 2.0 Workflow Demo // MIDI Looper, Step Sequencer & Arpeggiator #TTNM

THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"Here's a demo of the Flame Mäander workflow, starting from a cleared patch.
♥ SUPPORT: http://bit.ly/ttnm-support

TIMECODES:
1:00 Initializing a Patch
1:20 Step Sequencer Mode
3:14 Tweaking the Sound
4:36 Adding & Transposing Steps
5:42 Tweaking the Sound some more
6:57 Filterbank recap
7:51 Filterbank Sequencing
11:20 Playing more than one Bar
11:37 MIDI Looping on Bar 2
12:45 Chaining Bars
13:40 Overdubbing across Bars
14:50 Musical Scale Quantizer
16:18 More MIDI Looping on Bar 3
17:05 More Bar Chaining
18:06 Locking Tracks with Hold Mode
19:24 The Arpeggiator

The Flame Mäander 2.0 offers fun and very hands-on sequencing features, which are very well suited for live play. Chaining Bars and working with Step Sequences, MIDI Loops and Arpeggios is quick and always possible on the fly, while the Mäander is playing. You can lock tracks you don't want to change and still play notes non-destructively on top of everything. There is also a Note Quantizer to always keep your music in a certain musical scale."

Flame Mäander - Sunny Electro Blues // Outdoor Synth Jam #TTNM

Published Jun 4, 2020 THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"Experimental Blues on the Flame Mäander synthesizer, plus iOS Jim Audio Pure Acid drums and Audio Damage Dubstation delay and EOS reverb. MORE INFO BELOW :)

♥ SUPPORT: http://bit.ly/ttnm-support

Another great day to chill with the Flame Mäander in the sun! I prepared a simple 128 step backing track with the internal sequencer, locked it and then played on top of it in Shots mode (beat repeat) with the little button keyboard. The notes were quantized live into the same blues scale as the backing track and I’ve used the keyboard transpose encoder heavily to throw in some higher pitched notes.

I chose one of the new Mäander 2.0 B wavetables, containing electric organ and piano waves, which can create dramatically morphing swells when modulated with a slow triangle LFO. There is also the Mäander’s noise oscillator playing a simple rhythmic four on the floor pattern. Tweaking its decay adds some fun variation to the track.

In postproduction on my iPad Pro, I added additional drums with Jim Audio’s PURE ACID iOS drum machine in the Cubasis 2 DAW. For effects I stuck to my trusty Audio Damage AUv3 plugin suite with Dubstation 2 delay and EOS 2 reverb.'

FLAME MÄANDER 2.0 - FM Synth Sound Demo (no talking) #TTNM

Published on May 19, 2020 THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"The Flame Mäander got a new FM oscillator in the 2.0 update. Here is how it sounds! No external effects or processing, just the Mäander alone :)

♥ SUPPORT: http://bit.ly/ttnm-support

FM stands for frequency modulation, a synthesis technique in which an audio-rate oscillator’s pitch is modulated by another one at a different frequency. Of course those are just the very basics for an FM sound and things can get a lot more complex. FM synthesis is great for metallic sounds like bells and gongs and the MÄANDER’s detune & colour knobs let you tune in those timbres with ease."

Meander & Chill // A Flame Mäander 2.0 Filterbank Synth Jam #TTNM

Published on May 15, 2020 THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"A calm and airy music jam with Flame’s wavetable and filterbank groovebox!

♥ SUPPORT: http://bit.ly/ttnm-support

In this Video I’m switching between four MIDI loops (bars) and the arpeggiator. There’s also a bunch of transposing going on. Of course the twelve filter bands are being sequenced as well for rhythmic filter effects. The ten bands above the bass frequencies are divided equally between the left and right audio output channels by the way, giving the sound a nicely stereophonic quality.

Again, the only thing that was added to the one take recording of the dry Mäander was a little bit of reverb."

Flame Mäander 2.0 - Wavetable Synth Lullaby Jam #TTNM

Published on May 15, 2020 THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"Here's a first mellow jam with the new Flame Mäander 2.0 firmware. MORE INFO BELOW :)

♥ SUPPORT: http://bit.ly/ttnm-support

The Flame Mäander is a 4-voice paraphonic wavetable & FM synthesizer with an analog resonant filterbank. It features a live performance friendly step sequencer and arpeggiator and it even lets you sequence the individual filter bands, as well as an additional noise oscillator for percussion sounds. Of course you can upload your own oscillator wavetables too and play and control it extensively via MIDI.

In this jam session I'm using one of the new 2.0 wavetables as well as the new detune feature and pitch quantizer (so good for stand-alone live use!!!). All sounds directly from the Mäander, recorded in one take, with just a little bit of reverb added in postproduction."
