"What started as a simple plan to develop our own line of patch cables, quickly became an engineering feat in typical Joranalogue fashion. Before we knew it, we were stripping cables, benchmarking crosstalk and high frequency performance, and designing our own cable testing tools.

Needless to say, we're incredibly proud of the results.
Patch is a series of top quality patch cables for the discerning modularist, available in black and white, and a variety of lengths. Constructed using a custom-made coaxial base cable and overmoulded mini-jack plugs, protected by unique laser-cut aluminium shells, these cables are designed to outlast and outperform.

Lengths 15, 30, 60 and 90 cm are available in 8-packs, while the extra-long 150 cm cables are supplied in 4-packs.

Tech Thursday | Hold Modulation with Filter 8

"It's Tech Thursday! In these concise videos, we bring up some overlooked and advanced features of our modules.

This week's Tech Thursday is all about Filter 8's hold feature. When you enable the hold switch, Filter 8 'freezes' its filter core.

This can be gate controlled using the hold input. Turn the hold modulation up to the audio range and you'll get sync-like effects. The hold input features Schmitt action, meaning it can be driven by just about any signal you can throw at it.

Patch Tuesday | Mid/Side FX Processing | Enhance 2

Today, Boris demonstrates how to use Enhance 2 to process your mid/side channels with various effects.

Patch two slightly detuned oscillators to the stereo inputs of Enhance 2. Take your mid and side outputs and route them to different effects— in this instance Delay 1 and Fold 6. Enjoy a rich stereo sound by sending your effects' outputs back to the side and mid inputs!

Patch Tuesday | Glistening Arps | Route 4, Delay 1, Generate 3

"This week on Patch Tuesday: Glistening Arpeggios

Our main sound source is a Generate 3, receiving pitch from a MIDI-to-CV keyboard. Mix 3 is used as a VCA, being modulated by one Contour 1. The two other Contour 1s accentuate the sound by opening the VCA even more. Their inverted signal is sent to the control inputs of Route 4, producing arpeggios.

The extra flavour in this patch comes from Delay 1, clocked by filter 8, resulting in beautiful, lo-fi arps."

This week: Step 8 as a variable length sequencer, powered by the stage CV input. Did you know that in addition to directly addressing the register by CV, this input also allows you to change the reset point? By patching Step 8 to reset itself, we can thus dynamically vary the length of the sequence under voltage control.

Frits immerses us into an ambient generative patch for this week's Patch Tuesday! The main sound sources are two Filter 8s modulating each other through Pivot 2.

Step 8, in shift & sample mode, distributes Generate 3s core output throughout the system, modulating Pivot 2, multiple Contours 1s, and Orbit 3 while sending pitch CV to the Filter 8s and a Generate 3."

Patch Tuesday | Analogue Accumulator with Step 8 & Route 4

"It's Patch Tuesday! Have you ever heard of an analogue accumulator? A 'battery for CV', an accumulator stores a voltage which can be charged or discharged in discrete steps.

In this ingenious feedback patch, every step taken by Step 8 adds or subtracts voltage, creating a rising or falling melody. Additionally, Step 8 sends CV to modulate multiple modules in the system, whilst also performing duty as a gate sequencer."

Making Sound Machines - Farbshaper

The Farbshaper is similar, but not such a standard wavefolder design. It has a gain circuit that's unusually responsive to the amplitude of the input signal, giving it a very organic sound and variety of timbres you don't get on other folders.

The input signal is all sine wave from the Befaco Pony VCO.

Making Sound Machines Farbfolder vs. Joranalogue Fold 6


"Just got the new Farbfolder in from thonk.co.uk and put it together (it's an easy build, just knobs and jacks). I must admit the sexy color LEDs at the top caught my eye. They've 3D printed a light guide and used a transparent panel, so it gives you an excellent show of das blinkenlights. (Die? Das? I've forgotten what little German I had.)

But of course there's always the real question, how does it sound? And how does it compare to others at its size? I figured I'd pair it against the Fold 6 from Joranalogue, which is also 4hp, for a head-to-head.
