Mystic Circuits TREE // Next level bidirectional sequential switch

Published on Apr 5, 2019 DivKidVideo

"Here's a lovely little thing in the form of TREE from Mystic Circuits. It takes basic sequential switching up a gear with the addition of CV addressed direction, reset and 3 additional binary inputs to jump around the pattern creatively. It's been an interesting and inspiring piece of kit allowing you to perform with patching for cable led patch programmed functionality (that's a mouthful) to manipulate the switching and patterns you can create. In the video we distribute one sound to multiple FX, switch and re-route rhythms and modulation, explore audio rate functions, create Casio CZ style multi-cycle-waveforms, build a CV sequencer and more. Fun times.

Mystic Circuits Tree - Advanced Sequential Switch

Published on Mar 12, 2019 Mystic Circuits

"Tree is all about possibilities. A sequential switch with 8 positions that yields limitless paths between them, driving Tree with multiple clock sources can automatically create new sequences not easily made by hand. The clock, reset and backwards inputs drive Tree like a normal sequential switch with control over the direction of the sequence, whereas the “shift” inputs perform binary addressing of the steps with all 6 clock inputs available for simultaneous use. Featuring bidirectional inputs and outputs, when the common node is unplugged it is normalled to a high voltage allowing Tree to be used as a gate sequencer. The Turing Machine expansion port in the back allows for future expansion of Tree’s capabilities, including the ability to be used as a note sequencer."

Organic Synthesis with Trees and Leaves Featuring Eli of Mystic Circuits!

video upload by Perfect Circuit

"LEAVES modules!

Tree is an incredibly powerful bi-directional switch with the capability to expand it's functionality with multiple Leaves modules. The result is a versatile platform for controlling and routing voltage throughout an entire system.

TINRS or Mystic Circuits for best dressed at SUPERBOOTH?

"Eli shows off his newest modules Portal, Tree and Ana at Superbooth 2018. I think there could be some really cool effects to be had by feeding ambient drones through the Portal distortion. Eli feeds the Ana through a scope to show how waves are mangled."

IDUM RETURNS!

video upload by Mystic Circuits

"At long last IDUM is back! IDUM is our multi-effect processor for gates, allowing anything from a little variation to absolute insanity. Here is a little jam showing off using IDUM's new features - split mode and the improved looper.

We have a two IDUM system here with one controlling the VPME quad drum and a second controlling a set of SSF percussion modules as well as a voice made with the Schlappi Engineering Three Body and Boundary. We are also controlling our Tree/ Leaves combo module which is doing the main sequencing duties. The entire patch is mixed using our 3DVCA modules and our upcoming Ana v2 modules are acting as a macro controller, allowing us to change the whole patch with just four knobs. The main sequencer is the amazing Westlicht Performer.

In this jam I am focusing on showing how much variation you can get out of IDUM without changing the source sequence at all. This means that the same trigger sequence is driving IDUM the entire time and the note sequencer is not changed at all either, all of the variation you hear is either from manipulating IDUM or from changing some of the timbre settings of the drums.

"‍IDUM is a gate processing effect that turns its input effortlessly into IDM. Making complex electronic music with the modular usually requires meticulous sequencing done in advance or a large ecosystem of modules. Unfortunately, the level of expertise needed to accomplish this is not accessible to the average modular user. IDUM aims to make this process easier and put Intelligent Dance Music, also known as IDM, into the hands of people with average intelligence. IDUM does not require much knowledge to get immediate and compelling results; but with some extra familiarity, this module can enable innovative music making techniques. Instead of generating musical patterns on its own, IDUM acts like an effects processor for the sequences that run through it. For example, a filter or a delay allows the user to alter their sound by twisting the knobs or modulating the parameters. Similarly, IDUM manipulates the actual gates and sequences of connected modules, but with a level of playability normally inaccessible to a sequencer. IDUM can vary carefully crafted sequences or turn your music into an onslaught of controlled chaos. Its open source code and hardware based on the beginner friendly Arduino Nano Every encourage users to tweak their modules to taste or to add new features all while ensuring future improvements as IDUM makes its way into the wild."

Sunshine

Published on Dec 12, 2017 Mystic Circuits

"Uploading a bit of a different style of video to this channel, this time it is a sort of ambient modular jam rather than a purely informative demo. The concept behind this is setting up a patch with 0HP EYEtenuators distributed throughout the patch and then setting it outside to be modulated my natural changes in light, in this case a tree blowing in the wind. The patch is based around a Make Noise Morphogene loop, the loop being taken from Blonde Redhead's song "Equally Damaged". Because the light is changing so much my phone's auto-focus is going completely nuts and for that I apologize. I am looking into other camera phone apps to deal with this in the future (if you have suggestions please leave them in the comments, I have an Android). This video also happens to be a memorial to my dog who died on the day that I filmed this. Sprinkled throughout are some videos of the dog that I processed with video feedback as a kind of tribute to her. Her name was Zeta Loco Reticuli and a lot of people in the LA Modular scene knew her and that she was an awesome dog."
