Prophet 12 - How Analog can it sound? - Part #5 (Trance / Ambient)

video upload by Scott McAuley Sounds & Synthesis

Additional Parts

"This will likely be the last of the sample videos for this bank, I am nearing completion of the 100 Sounds. And I am incredibly happy with how these are turning out.

This one is an old old favourite track of mine, completely chilled version, but all in one split patch.

The delays are from the P12, but I did run this through a long reverb just to give it that ambient / trance effect. I highly recommend no matter what synth or synths you have to invest in some great reverbs, they can bring your synth to life.

anyway, as always thanks for viewing.

Prophet 12 - How Analog can it sound? - Part #4 (Rhodes Style Piano)

video upload by Scott McAuley Sounds & Synthesis

Additional Parts

"Last Video of this series, showing the diversity and expression of the P12, nothing like a good old Rhodes sound to show off a synths Envelopes, Velocity response, and warmth.

This Patch simply called "SM Bob James" says it all. very short vid this one, but I will play live on full demo video :)

Enjoy!

Prophet 12 - How Analog can it sound? - Part #3 (No Effects)

video upload by Scott McAuley Sounds & Synthesis

Additional Parts

"Completely different type of analog demo this one. it's one to show the benefits of stable oscillators (DCO) versus (VCO) instability. Yes I love the instability of VCO, and would still chose them over DCO for most applications. but at times, especially for percussive or crystal like sounds, the stable DCO allows far better sound design and allows the synth to cut through. This patch has no effects, (yes it's completely dry!) it does have some light compression for mastering and that is it. From Low end to High End the P12 is just there!

I love it. snappy envelopes, it's rich, and just has a sound of it's own.

hope you enjoy!

Prophet 12 - How Analog can it sound? - Part #2

video upload by Scott McAuley Sounds & Synthesis

Additional Parts

"Second Video Demonstrating how Analog the P12 can sound. exceptionally good at the dreamy moog like leads and warm pads.

This Patch 'SM Pads n Arps' - is programmed in split mode Pad on lower keys and lead / Arp on the top. Extremely expressive and one for sitting back and enjoying a jam. I used Specular Tempus reverb on this, along with the P12 modulated delays set in stereo.

Prophet 12 - How Analog can it sound? - *Only P12 Effects Used*

video upload by Scott McAuley Sounds & Synthesis

Additional Parts

"Busy working away on the next Custom Bank, and I find myself asking, Why do so many people say the P12 doesn't sound analog enough??, I get the whole DCO vs VCO debate will never end, but considering this synth was made way before the 'vintage' mode was developed, it can still sound remarkably warm and full of character.

This patch utilises the Binaural stack, only saws, but modulated, touch of LFO on filter, LFO modulating the P12 delays, and it sounds Lush, Warm and Very very analog to me.

I'm interested to hear the current opinions on this fantastic synth. I for one fully understand why the late Dave Smith pegged this as his favourite ever creation.

Custom Banks will be available at https://www.orano.co.uk/shop

thanks for watching.
