109 Buchla Voltage Controlled Presets!

YouTube Published on Jun 11, 2012 by 7thDanSound
Audio comes in at 1:18 so turn up your volume too loud.

"Buchla and Associates just released a new firmware for the preset manager in the 206e and the 225e. It allows for voltage control of what preset to go to which means you can sequence the presets in just about any way imaginable. I've been waiting for this sooo much! So here's a quick video demo of how it works. The implications of what this can do is just pure awesome!"

Buchla Swinging and Generating Triplets

YouTube Uploaded by dkimcg on Jan 17, 2012

"the 1/4 note sound and the swinging triplet playing sound generated from the same 1/4 note pulse. Based on DougCL's swinging clock tip as demonstrated by 7thDanSound. [this post]

Not a musical statement, mainly a study in swinging and triplets generated from a simple pulse.

I knew you could make triplets without a standard 1/3 divider.
And I thought it was pretty cool to be able to sequence swing and triplets from the 250e. :D

Only problem is I still can't figure out how to keep a tempo and swing a note before the clock without faking it by swinging the previous note way late to fake the early note w/o patching the pendulum's tempo with a quick negative modulation and syncing the pendulum to a master midi clock. Any ideas, if that makes sense?"

Dougs Swing Patch

YouTube Uploaded by 7thDanSound on Jan 17, 2012

"I got this tip from fellow Buchla dude Doug, or as he's known here on YouTube, boobtube 356. It's a great tip for adding swing to your 250e sequences. Swing that can be altered without changing the tempo. Thanks Doug!

103 Buchla 222e Controlled Feedback Patch

YouTube Uploaded by 7thDanSound on Jan 16, 2012

"I wanted to test some feedback but keeping it fully on all the time wasn't so fun so I patched in the 222e to control it a little. I'm really starting to like the 222e!"

102 Rings and Vocals with the Buchla

Haunted Buchla and Moog Phaser

Uploaded by 7thDanSound on Jan 8, 2012

"Doing the Buchla+Moog phaser thing again and ended up with something that sounded haunted and eerie. I like this kind of thing a lot. It's amazing how hypnotizing these patches get. Note that the 261e mod oscillator is the source of sound here."

First 250e patch, and some Ardbeg

YouTube Uploaded by 7thDanSound on Dec 9, 2011

"My first patch with the 250e from a while back. I so regret I never recorded it properly, now this is all I have from it. Except for the sequence of course, it's secure in the memory of the 250e.

99 Old and New

YouTube Uploaded by 7thDanSound on Nov 29, 2011

"Something old, something new. This video features a lovely old radio that we were given by my girlfriends grandma a few years back. They were the original owners and the thing is in near mint condition. I love it to death and really enjoy listening to it. I use a small FM transmitter to unintrusively get sounds into the machine, sometimes just from Spotify, this time from the Buchla. It's my girlfriend playing the 222e.

I really hope the nice sound of the radio can be heard! I used a hand held recorder to get the sound from the air so to speak.

98 Serge TriTones

YouTube Uploaded by 7thDanSound on Nov 21, 2011

Update: YouTube description added: "Using the sequencer of the Serge and three oscillators to create some chords and a nice little progression. There is some random triggering of the oscillators so it shouldn't sound so boring all the time. At the end is a little tweaking by me which shows a little more of how the patch works.

95 Buchla 250e And 227e

YouTube Uploaded by 7thDanSound on Nov 7, 2011

"In trying to get to know the new modules of my Buchla I decided to try something I've wanted to do for a long time, use voltage to address a sequencer. It's a very flexible way to get more out of 16 steps than one first might think. So I use te 250e in strobed voltage address mode, that is whenever it receives a pulse it jumps to the step corresponding to the current address voltage. By carefully adjusting the timing of the address voltage and the timing of the strobe pulse I get a pattern that takes a number of steps to repeat itself, thus making those 16 steps sound like many more.

I also use the 227e system interface to fade in and out of effects. Using the rear channels as dry and the front channels as wet you can get both stereo fading and effects fading at the same time. It's like voltage controlled effects on the whole mix coming out of the synth.
