I love the Korg OPSIX, I knew I would. Such a DEEP synthesizer.
But don't let that stop you from getting one, NO! This FM synth
was made for EXPLORATION! Incredible digital FM dimensions!
Great job, KORG! Only issue I have with this synth is the MIDI port
is right in the center on the back so I can't use MIDI on my APEX stand.
KORG: move the MIDI ports to the sides so Ultimate Support APEX users
can trigger MIDI to your synths! Just sayin'.....

(Oh, and maybe some videos of a synth with a "Vintage" knob too!)

"Welcome back! We decided to do a bit of an experimental, scoring type of video with the Opsix this time around. Shoutout to Korg for allowing us to test drive the Opsix and make videos. We're not sponsored in any way, but we do have a review unit that we'll have to send back afterwards.

The approach for this video was to write a dreamy scifi cue. The Opsix did a great job sonically. Didn't end up writing new patches. Just tweaked stock patches for sonic inspiration.

Towards the end loaded up a Grand Piano patch from 8Dio (https://bit.ly/2LSlpNq​) and some string sections from Spitfire's BBCSO library.

Footage at the end was a hike we did in early Nov 2020 of Lake Tahoe Rubicon Trail."

"The Korg Opsix is a six operator FM synth that can do way more than classic synthesizers like the DX7. The altered FM operators in the Opsix can act as modulators or carriers and in addition to FM they have ring modulation, wave folding, filtering and filter FM options. The operators go through a filter which has multiple modes (including Polysix and MS-20 modeled filters) as well as an FX section where you can chain up to 3 algorithms.

In this video Jacob plays a few of the factory presets as well as some custom patches with an explanation of some of the features and techniques used to create them.
