Perfect Circuit Audio (RSS)

"Originally designed by DIY electronics guru Forrest Mims III as the "Stepped Tone Generator," the Atari Punk Console is one of the most famous and recognizable Lo-Fi synth circuits ever. Using a single 556 dual timer IC with minimal part count, the Atari Punk Console circuit is a solid, time-tested noise generator capable of outrageous Square wave madness!

The Atari Punk Console PCB is designed at Synthrotek and manufactured to high-quality specs in the USA!

Features

Use a 9V battery or an AC Adapter rated at 5-12V 200mA Center Negative polarity (adapter not included).
DC Jack allows for power switching so that battery power is only enabled when there is no AC Adapter plugged in.
CV input allows step sequencers and waveform generators to expand the sonic capabilities of the Atari Punk Console from drone to arpeggio-like dynamism.
Use any variable voltage source from 0-Supply Voltage for some glitchy goodness!
3 potentiometer controls Pulse, Width, and Frequency contour the tone while the Volume control sets your output just right.
The two-way switch powers the unit on or off.
Uses 1/4" instrument jacks."

Lunetta inspired analog modular synthesizer

YouTube via synthmonger

"13 modules are in this

4 VCO's each with different frequencies
2 Envelope Followers (non cmos)
Decay Generator (non cmos)
Nyquist Aliaser
3 1 of 2 voltage control switches
mixer (non cmos)
Multiples/adapters
Sub-oscillator/harmonic sequencer

In this video the VL-1 drum beat is going through the EF. The EF gate output is triggering the SO/HS and the decay generator, its envelope is cving VCO 1 (its triangle output is in the mixer). VCO 2 (square wave output being used) is running through the VCA which is being controlled by the decay generator. VCO 4 is being CV'd by the all-mix output of the HO/HS and it's output is syncing VCO1.

Oh and the VL-1 drum output is in the mixer too. After some knob twiddling I cut it from the mix.

Next mini-modular is going to be completely CMOS."

A little Serge influence on the look and interface.

Micro Phasemonger Teaser 2 **with fuzz!**

YouTube Uploaded by synthmonger on Feb 28, 2012

"Here's another teaser for my Micro Phasemonger which will be available March 2012.

The design is a totally new take on Phase shifting. It's all analog and no DSP, yet with the aliasing mode it can be hard to convince non believers. Only 4 phase stages but the range "sounds" greater. The MK1 and MK2 will have plenty more stages.

In this demo I ran my 'Fuzzbender' prototype pedal/kit through the µPhasemonger. It was hard to play anything but simple notes and chords on the guitar because I had to hold the phone to take video, sorry in advanced if anyone was expecting more crazy guitar licks =^.^= I will have a lengthy video in the feature demoing every lil' sound this gnarly pedal can give out.

There will be two knobs for "Rate" and "Resonance" and two toggle switches for 'mix' and 'Aliasing'."

Pulse Monger demo

YouTube via synthmonger
"This is a quick demo of my Pulse Monger pedal. A limited run of the Pulse Mongers will include an internal LFO. Later versions won't but I plan on building a control processor (that's very different than Moog's) to make up for that. ;D

Here is a description of what's going on in the video

00:19 Fundamental pulse width knob is turned from fully CCW to fully CW and back again.
00:50 Mix knob goes from full Fundamental all the way to full sub-octave
00:59 Sub-octave pulse width is turned from fully CCW to CW and back again
01:15 Blend knob is set to noon (equal fundamental and sub-octave mix)
01:24 Fundamental and sub-octave pulse width knobs are adjusted from CCW to CW and back again.
02:54 Different settings are played with
03:38 The LFO is introduced at a standard triangle wave at a slow speed then high. LFO is then set to falling ramp wave from slow to fast speed, then the shape is set to rising ramp wave from slow to fast speed. Different settings are then played with.

Thanks to Leon Burnside for testing it out! ;D

**Extra notes**
This pedal has a high Overdrive type gain while it remains very quite. No background hiss or that mumbo jumbo.

The sub-octave tracks best with non-buzzy pickups. A perfectly clean line level signal sounds best.

The sub octave is great for solos and so-so for chords. Only strings parallel to one another come out clean. Otherwise it'll rattle and rumble like all non-digital octave pedals.

If you're after a truly unique fuzzy, synthy, squarey, polyphonicy and sub-octavey pedal then stay tuned as I'll have these in production soon!"

Micro Phasemonger Teaser

YouTube Uploaded by synthmonger on Feb 21, 2012

"This video is a teaser demo showing the normal phase shifting and the "aliased" phase shifting. Aliasing effect is achieved through underclocking.

4 phase stages with a bit of resonance. The controls will be Modulation knob routed to a toggle switch that selects manual or LFO, a Resonance knob, and another toggle switch that switches between normal or aliasing. There is also an exp/cv input for the phase shifting.

This is all analog, no DSP or coding done.

******************* The hissing is from either the phone case or ambient noise and NOT the pedal, which is extremely quiet."

Okita_layout

flickr by synthmonger

"This is a slightly slimmed down Okita Vocoder. I built it from an old school kit. Much time went into this! I had to etch the boards and drill every hole. I built it per schematic and there were a few errors in the original design that have been removed or corrected. After having fun with it for a couple months I've decided to get rid of it and build one that is completely me design and does exactly what I want it to do.

If you're interested in this I will be selling it for a fair amount. mshaner84@gmail.com for details."

10 step sequencer on YouTube

Update via the comments:
"this is synthmonger's stuff. he's building what look like fairly nice little noiseboxes, sequencers, and so on and selling them fairly cheap direct and on ebay. i've got one of his CMOS VCO boxes on order and, if it's as good as it looks, i'll probably be picking up one of these sequencers as well -- where else can you get a standalone 10-step analog sequencer for under $200?"
