New Yamaha TQ5 Shot

I posted about the Yamaha TQ5 just yesterday. Well reptar who started the thread on VSE put up a shot of his turned on. I didn't relize that black bar was actually a screen. Pretty cool. Ah, the things that fascinate me... : )

Steiner Master's Touch filter/cv/gate Breath Controller

Interesting piece currently on the *bay. Title link takes you to shots saved for posterity.

From the auction: "This auction is for one vintage Steiner (Crumar) Master's Touch breath controller in great functional and okay cosmetic condition. Basically it's a voltage controlled resonant filter (VCF) and voltage controlled amplifier (VCA) with rubber tubes and mouthpieces that you use to control the cutoff ("S.E.D." in Steiner terminology) and gate the volume. Runs on 110V US voltage and has built in power supply/cord.
There's an input for an audio signal to be processed by the VCF and VCA, and outputs for the processed, dry and mixed signals. CV outputs are also generated by the mouthpieces ("breath" and "bite") and these can be used to control external synthesizers or effects via cv or pedal inputs. There is also a little rubber pad by which you can generate CV via a fingertip along with both positive (v-trig for old Rolands and Arps) and short-to-ground (s-trig for old Moogs, Korgs and Yamahas) gate outputs available simultaneously. Little red LEDS show the status of the trigger and breath outputs. Very versatile and incorporates very well with any modular system. Extremely easy to use. "

Amazing new Buchla site containing a wealth of Buchla information and services. There is a drop down list of modules including detailed information and images.

Electric Music Box offers repairs and restorations of classic Buchla intruments, as well as the purchase, selling and trading of these rare and coveted pieces.

Note: Rick asked me to note that he had to whip the site up quickly as Keyboard Magazine linked to it; currently Mac Safari and Firefox are a bit flakey. He is aware of the problem and will fix it when he gets a chance. IE works fine.

Chris Strellis - The Release featured on Arturia

Back on September 6, 2005 Chris Strellis gave me the go ahead to post his tribute to the late Bob Moog, titled The Release. It's an amazing track using the Arturia Minimoog and Modular V soft synths along with samples of Bob Moog. Arturia just put it up under their The Highlight of the Month section. If you haven't heard the track yet, you owe it to yourself to do so. It is one of the best tributes to the late Bob Moog that I've heard; a beautiful and powerful piece. I do not like to favor one person's tribute over another, but this really is THE tribute piece in my opinion. The samples and flow of the piece are breathtaking, especially with the samples of Bob and finally when the pads come in. When the pads do come in, I can't help but think of Bob's passing and his release from our world and time. Title link takes you there - scroll down to the bottom of the page for a link to the track (if you catch this post after the link is gone, you can also check out my old post which includes some comments from Chris Strellis as well). And of course there is Chris Strellis' website.
