Minimoog & More - Videos by martinjazz78

Published on Jan 11, 2017 martinjazz78

There are 12 videos in this playlist by martinjazz78. They start with Moog's recently discontinued Minimoog Model D followed by the Voyager. Other gear featured include Analogue Solutions Telemark - K, the Dreadbox Erebus, DSI Polyevolver, Sequentix Cirklon, and a Rhodes. There are a couple of live band performances in there as well.

Playlist:

1. New Minimoog D - Brass Patch Solo - Complete Session
2. New Minimoog D - Brass Patch Solo #2 with Rhodes, Telemark and Erebus
"Published on Jan 11, 2017
This is complete session video of my dawless improvisation on the new Minimoog Model D. I started with sort of brass patch with filter modulation and filter tweaking and little bit more of glide, but it develops and changes to not so brassy lead throughout the video. Sequences on the background are Erebus by Dreadbox and Telemark-K as well as DSI Polyevolver.

Sequences on the background:
number 1 is 16 steps sequence on Analogue Solutions Telemark - K
number 2 is 15 steps sequence played by Dreadbox Erebus
number 3 is 8 steps sequence on DSI Polyevolver

Telemark and Erebus are sequenced by Sequentix Cirklon via midi. Erebus filter is modulated by its own LFO. Sorry, this was my first night with Telemark, so no sophisticated patching yet. DSI Polyevolver is run by synth's internal sequencer clocked to Cirklon.

All synths as well as Rhodes are processed through the vintage tape Roland Space Echo for delay and bit of dirtiness. As well all gears go through Strymon Big Sky for reverb. Recorded live, only stereo output from Motu interface into Ableton. Video is GoPro on my chest.

This is one of the first videos I edited in Final Cut Pro X, so I was experimenting with some visual effects. Still learning, but I hope you'll like it.

Enjoy not only the Minimoog sound :)

3. New Minimoog D - Honey Patch #2 with Oberheim SEM Pro, Telemark-K and Oberkorn sequencer
4. New Minimoog D with Vintage Tape Roland Space Echo - Honey Patch #3
"Excerpt from my recent dawless synth jam. I started with Tom Oberheim's SEM Pro, Telemark-K and Oberkorn sequencer. When I was happy with the sequence I just had to add Minimoog D. Its pure analogue warmth then completely changed the atmosphere of the jam. Both Oberheim's as well as Telemark's Oberheim type filters are very sneaky and work as great antipodes to the Moog's honey like VCF.

Regarding the sequence CV1 from Oberkorn goes to OSC1 on SEM Pro, CV2 to OSC2 and CV3 to VCF cutoff. SEM Pro then controls Telemark via cv and at the same time triangle wave LFO from Telemark goes back to control the LFO rate on SEM Pro.

All synths are processed through the vintage tape Roland Space Echo for delay and Strymon Big Sky for reverb. Audio is stereo output from my Motu interface into Ableton Live. Camera was GoPro Hero 4 Black, video was edited in Final Cut Pro."

5. New Minimoog D - Brass Patch Solo #3 with psychedelic Telemark filter
6. New Minimoog D - Brass Patch Solo #1
"Yet another moment from my improvisation on the new Minimoog Model D. At this point already pretty tweaked and developed brass patch played pretty fast as I was energized by Telemark's sound at the moment.

Moog starts at about 0:44 after Telemark filter tweaking
From 2:10 till the end there's more filter and envelopes tweaking on Telemark-K by Analogue Solutions.

7. 0-Coast and Moog Mother 32 sequencing, Minimoog Voyager solo
"This is from my dawless synth jam. There are three sequences running (0-Coast, Moog Mother 32 and Taurus Bass Pedal). All three are run from Cirklon via midi. The pad is from Polyevolver keyboard. Solo improvisation on Minimoog Voyager. All synths are processed through the vintage Roland Space Echo."

8. Poetic Filharmony - Poetry Jam (Moog, Minimoog Voyager on Stage)
"Poetic Filharmony is a Prague/Czech Republic based jazz fusion band. This was a jam we played as an encore of a concert. I had no preset ready for the jam so I was going through presets in my Minimmog Voyager, tweaking them etc. I love this Moog instrument. More info about the band:

9. When Minimoog Kills Them All: Elements, SEM Pro, Polivoks and Taurus III
"(Minimoog D appears around 9:00 for the first time)

My dawless synth jam inspired first of all by absolutely unbelievable sonic expressiveness of Ken Macbeth's Elements synth as well as by the very organic nature of its on-board delay. So to speak Yin qualities are provided by Tom Oberheim's SEM Pro in this video. As this Yin aspect was rather strong and I wasn't able to tame it, I added little bit more Yang with the probably little overpriced, though definitely undervalued and underated Polivoks Pro (reissue of the legendary Soviet synth). Taurus III Bass Pedals by Moog contributes with the bottom end. All the synths above are controlled with the hardware sequencer Cirklon by Sequentix. Moog's CP-215 Control Processor also modulates filters on Elements and Polivoks.

When I was happy with everything, I decided to add one more layer with Minimoog D (reissue by Moog) and while playing I couldn't have helped myself, but had a feeling that Minimoog was killing all other synths. Well, that's the Minimoog, isn't it? But listening again later I have to admit that the Minimoog doesn't kill them all and the title of this video is rather a phrase to get attention than the statement. In this video, filter of the Minimoog is modulated by oscillator from the Moogerfooger Freqbox.

All synths are processed through the vintage tape Roland Space Echo for delay and Strymon Big Sky for reverb. Recorded live, stereo output from my Motu interface into the Ableton Live. Camera was GoPro Hero in my right hand, video was edited in the Final Cut.

When I finished playing I had that beautiful feeling of fulfillment through creative process, I hope you'll enjoy the video ;)"

11. Minimoog Voyager and Rhodes Piano in Unisono (Phrygian)
"Synth brass patch on Minimoog Voyager in unison with good old Rhodes Piano MKI. Sequence is from DSI Polyevolver Keyboard processed through Moogerfooger (Ring Mod and 12 Stage Phaser), the bottom is Moog Taurus III. Everything through Roland Space Echo."

12. Poetic Filharmony - Cookoo (solo on Minimoog Voyager)
"Minimoog Voyager as the only synth on stage.

Poetic Filharmony is a jazz fusion band from Prague/Czech Republic. The name of the piece is Cookoo, solo on Voyager is between bass solo and guitar solo. The sound is from camera only (sorry). I love this synth:)))
