Sequential Prophet 10 REV4 and Rhodes Piano | ambient improvisation

video upload by MIDERA

"My family and I went on vacation this week and had a great time. Some things came up at work and frustratingly, I feel I wasn't entirely as present as I'd have liked to have been. Kind of ruined a lot of things for me, but, despite that we had fun.

My oldest daughter, as usual, wanted a stuffy. We went to a store and she decided she wanted to wait to get something at a different place (because she usually liked the stuffed animals there. So later that day we drove down and - to her dismay - the new stuffed animals there were for little kids. We asked how she could tell, but she said she could. She did not want them. But we didn't have time to go back to the other place (since this was a restaurant and we were going to be eating dinner and the other place would be closed). I drove back up afterwards, looking for any place that might sell something similar, but nowhere did. The next day we knew a snow storm was coming in, a huge one. So she was very sad that we wouldn't be able to go back - but I was proud of her for two reasons: 1) She was able to hold off getting something now for the hopes of something better. 2) She didn't just grab something at the second place, because she knew she didn't want those. And although she cried and was very sad, she did not get something there. I was proud of her for that.

The next morning, we decided to go out in the storm and we did end up getting that stuffy for her. I got her something extra too because I was proud of her for waiting.

As for this track - well, I'm trying to see - do I really need that SX-240? Just because it's pretty? Basically, I have found the Prophet 10 actually does sound almost identical to the SX-240. As cool/nice as it is, I can't just keep all this stuff. There's just too much stuff here and I can make the same or better stuff without some of these synths in my studio.

Roland Jupiter 6 lush pads and Rhodes Piano soundscape

video upload by MIDERA

"I'm convinced the Kawai SX-240 should go, if only because I can trade for something else (Yamaha CP-70b?). But what can take its place that's already here? The Jupiter 6? The Prophet 10? The Prophet VS? They're all similar, but different. Guess that's why I stupidly have so much stuff. I can hear interesting tones from one that I can't hear in another. They're all interesting.

The Jupiter 6 surprised me here. I have learned some tricks about keeping the filter from sounding so harsh, and I think that's helped. It's for sure an unusual synth - and not entirely my favorite. In fact, I'd say generally the SX-240 sounds better (and looks better). I think the SSM2044 filters really make that synth shine, and nothing I have is like that. The Polysix had these filters but it never sounded as good. I think the Prophet 10 probably is the closest, but it also lacks reverse saw waves that I really like for LFOs. I don't know why they omitted those on the P10, but they did.

Crossover Beat w/ Rhodes Mark 2, Prophet-10, OP-1 field, Drums & Bass | Ordeal 2025-03-30 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"A piece created using the Rhodes Mark II, Prophet-10, and ‪@teenageengineering‬ OP-1 field. The Rhodes harmonies repeat in sync with the drums and bass, while the melody goes wild through the MOOD MK II.

On the Rhodes Mark II, I perform with a ‪@BOSSinfoglobal‬ CE-5 chorus effect.

I play the intro and interlude on the ‪@SequentialLLC‬ Prophet-10, adjusting the filter during the interlude.

The drums are recorded and reconstructed in a DAW.

The bass is recorded into the DAW through a SANS AMP BASS DRIVER.

On the OP-1 field, I play the melody while manipulating the ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ MOOD MK II CLOCK for pitch shifting. Midway, I adjust the REVERB TIME to create a noisier sound."

Rhodes Mark 2 Prophet-10 Ambient Ø MOOD MK II | Your Dream 2025-03-07 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"A piece created using the Rhodes MK2, ‪@SequentialLLC‬ Prophet-10, and ‪@SONICWARE‬ LIVEN Ambient Ø. Minimal Rhodes tones are layered with electronic sounds from a synthesizer.

The Rhodes MK2 is processed through a send/return using the ‪@BOSSinfoglobal‬ CE-5 for chorus, and a slight delay is applied at the final output via ‪@strymon‬ TIMELINE.

On the Prophet-10, I perform monophonic pad sounds, with the output processed by Strymon blueSky to add deep reverb.

Ambient Ø is played manually while adjusting the parameters on the‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ MOOD MKII."

Ambient w/ TR-08, Rhodes Mark 2, Max for Live Synth | Waterfall 2025-02-28

video upload by atnr

"A piece created using Max for Live synth ‪@noine-giron‬ NOIwavetableGEN, Rhodes Mark II, and TR-08. Undulating synthesizer sounds combine with rhythm machine beats and electric piano tones.

I build the bass and harmony using Max for Live’s synth NOIwavetableGEN (https://noine.gumroad.com/l/noi-wavet.... The bass is monophonized by narrowing its width with Utility.

The rhythm is played on the TR-08 and processed with reverb and filtering via NIGHTSKY.

On the Rhodes, I apply chorus using the ‪@BOSSinfoglobal‬ CE-5 and delay with ‪@strymon‬ TIMELINE."

Ambient w/ Rhodes MK2, OP-1 field, Prophet-10 | Forgotten Sands 2025-02-25 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"A piece created using the Rhodes MK2, ‪@teenageengineering‬ OP-1 field, and ‪@SequentialLLC‬ Prophet-10. The sound of a synth pad resonates with the delayed and chorused tones of the Rhodes, while sounds like bells and a rainstick can be heard in the background.

The Rhodes MK2 is processed with chorus via the ‪@BOSSinfoglobal‬ CE-5 and delay via ‪@strymon‬ TIMELINE.

The Prophet-10 is run through blueSky for reverb, with phrases composed of a mix of MIDI sequences and live playing.

The OP-1 field triggers MIDI sequences while its built-in NITRO effect applies filtering, and ‪@gfisys‬ SPECULAR TEMPUS adds Shimmer Reverb. Variations in the intensity of the shimmer and the opening and closing of the filter cause the same harmony to resonate differently."

Crossover Beat w/ Rhodes MK2, Prophet-10, Drums & Bass | Flops 2025-02-22

video upload by atnr

"A piece created using the Rhodes MK2, ‪@SequentialLLC‬ Prophet-10, along with live bass and drum performances. A simple rhythm and the chorused sound of the Rhodes serve as the foundation for a layered synth melody.

On the Prophet-10, I record various parts by changing the sound.

The bass is recorded through an audio interface with the SANSAMP BASS DRIVER applied.

The drums are recorded using three microphones on the kick, snare, and overheads.

The Rhodes MK2 is sent through a send/return loop and processed with chorus via the ‪@BOSSinfoglobal‬ CE-5"

Minimal House w/ Moog One, Rhodes MK2 and more | Metroflux 2025-02-19

video upload by atnr

"A piece created using the Rhodes MK2, Prophet-10, Moog One, EP-133, Nord Lead, and ARP ODYSSEY. It’s a minimal house track featuring a bassline from the ODYSSEY, with airy synth and electric piano layered on top.

The rhythm is built from the EP-133's kick and glitch effects from the Nord Lead.

The Moog One plays sequenced, minimal chords, with knob adjustments to modulate the filter.

The Prophet-10 and Rhodes are performed live to deliver various phrases.

The ARP ODYSSEY is MIDI-controlled to produce the bassline, with its filter envelope manually operated, and its output is routed through SANSAMP’s BASS DRIVER."

"Rat Race" feat. Justin Piper & Peter MacLean

video upload by Jeremy Parker

"Featuring long-time musical compatriots, Justin Piper on guitar and Pete MacLean on drums, this moody piece is pretty heavy! The original idea for this song came from wanting to create a cyclical bass line where the beginning/end aren't totally clear, like being on a hamster wheel, so to speak. Once the vibe was clear, the title 'Rat Race' came to me, and I think it pretty much captures the feeling of being caught up in the day-to-day grind, with maybe a ray of sunshine here or there (i.e. the bridge section). I used my Polybrute for the bass and strings, with the main melody on the miniKORG 700fs and the Rhodes MKIII EK10 for all chords and solo section (featuring the EK10's synthesizer). Thanks ‪@TheEntireRobot‬ a.k.a. "Cowboy" Ben Alman for helping with the arrangement/mix. I hope you all enjoy it!"

NAMM 2025: Rhodes Stage 61 Prototype

video upload by sonicstate

"At NAMM 2025 we caught up with Jamie at Rhodes*, who introduced the *Stage 61 prototype. Aimed at the purists, this instrument returned to basics with features reminiscent of original designs from the '60s to the early '80s. It had familiar components like tines, tone bars, and pickups for capturing the natural Rhodes sound. The instrument sported a Mark V look, complete with a basic treble and bass tone knob.

Notably, the Stage 61 lacked additional effects like tremolo or EQ, allowing you to use your preferred amplification setup, such as a Fender Twin Reverb or Roland JC Chorus. The build featured a small form factor, making it lightweight for easy gigging. Jamie highlighted that the keybed was a Steinway Concert Grand design with 61 notes, made by Kluge.

The Stage 61 was available for pre-order with a lead time of six to nine months, priced at $6,995. Additional developments could include a passive MIDI version."
