"This was an instagram post that turned out to be a pretty darn good exploration of Chromaplane through Sparks and Big Time, so I'm tossing it on Youtube for those of you who are on the hunt for more Big Time audio examples. It’s admittedly busy sonically, but sometimes I just love making a big pot of sonic gumbo.

The modular stuff is a series of homegrown samples being processed by Multigrain, Arbhar, and Morphagene.

Chompi + Chase Bliss Onward | A Spontaneous Ambient Sketch

"While testing my new KMA Audio Machines headphone amplifier, I stumbled upon this little musical moment.

Chompi Club runs a simple sequence into the Chase Bliss Onward, then through a parallel reverb setup with the EarthQuaker Devices Afterneath and Chase Bliss Dark World.

My wife heard it and suggested I record it before it disappeared, so this is a completely spontaneous one-take recording captured with a Zoom recorder while I was simultaneously holding a phone camera and playing the instruments.
Sometimes the unplanned moments are worth keeping."

Minimal Ambient with Piano, Tape Loop, and Synth Pads | Memorial Delay 2026-05-27 by atnr

"A minimal ambient piece where piano sounds, tape loops, and synth pads overlap.

This work is created with ‪@teenageengineering‬ OP-1 field, ‪@YamahaSynthsOfficial‬ CS01, and tape loops.

On the OP-1 field, bit reduction is applied with the TERMINAL effect to a piano loop performed on the Sampler. Additional piano phrases are played by hand and layered into the piece.

The tape loop uses a one-minute endless tape. A pre-recorded piano performance is played back while pitch shifting and micro loops are layered through the ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ MOOD MKII.

On the CS01, sounds with long attack and release settings are performed. Filtering and reverb through the ‪@strymon‬ NIGHTSKY create a synth pad-like texture."

"An electronica piece created with Game Boy, ‪@teenageengineering‬ OP-1, OP-1 field, and ‪@YamahaSynthsOfficial‬ TENORI-ON.

The melody on the Game Boy is played using LSDj and processed with pitch shifting and reverb through the ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ MOOD MKII.

On the OP-1 field, harmony is created and looped using voice samples loaded into the Sampler.

On the OP-1, a bassline is looped using the ENDLESS sequencer. FM synth parameters are occasionally adjusted during the performance. Reverb is added through the ‪@strymon‬ blueSky.

On the TENORI-ON, rhythm patterns are played back. It is synchronized with the OP-1 field via USB MIDI using the KENTON MIDI USB HOST. During the performance, patterns are added and the loop range is changed."

"An electronica piece created with ‪@teenageengineering‬ OP-1 field and OP-1.

On the OP-1 field, a 32 bar loop is performed and recorded in advance. On top of this, an electric piano phrase from the SAMPLER is recorded using the ENDLESS sequencer. The OP-1 field is connected to ‪@strymon‬ NIGHTSKY with filtering and reverb applied. The pitch is occasionally modulated using the pitch knob.

On the OP-1, a drum sequence from DBOX runs with the ENDLESS sequencer. The built in CWO effect is adjusted using the feedback control. The clock on ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ MOOD MKII is also manipulated to introduce pitch variation and further changes in tone."

Robo-Xylophone - Ambient (Norns Shield (BLOOM)/Chase Bliss MOOD MKII)

"A xylophone played using 5 solenoids that strike the bars mechanically. Each solenoid is controlled via MIDI with an Arduino.
The MIDI notes are generated by the Bloom script running on a Norns Shield, creating constantly changing patterns.
The audio is processed in real time through a Chase Bliss MOOD MKII pedal for added texture and atmosphere."

On the volca fm2, a sequence runs while monotron DELAY adds filtering and delay. The signal is further processed through LOSSY with additional filtering and reverb.

On the norns shield, a recorded piano performance is processed with granular synthesis in graintopia and played back. The output is connected to ‪@strymon‬ blueSky with reverb applied."

On the OP-1 field, a recorded 16 bar harmony is looped while the sampler is performed by hand.

On the OP-1, a beat runs in a loop using the ENDLESS sequencer while the built in CWO effect is adjusted. The output is processed through LOSSY with reverb and filtering to create variation.

A distorted bassline is played on the MOTIF-RACK ES and recorded in a DAW."

On the norns shield, a piano melody is recorded and processed with granular synthesis in Graintopia. The sound is further sent through MOOD MKII to generate micro loop layers.

These are my first "ten minutes" (okay, the video turned out a few minutes longer 😉) with the Modern Sounds Pluto semimodular synthesizer.

In this small setup Pluto is accompanied by three pedals, the Strymon El Capistan v1, the Chase Bliss/Goodhertz Lossy and the Eventide Space in ModEchoVerb algorithm, all in stereo.
Pluto, this tiny little box, is such a fascinating and inspiring instrument. You can get a million and more of sounds out of it.
I love how the filter of Lossy changes the overall mood of the sounds.
