Subtle Expressions: Squarp Instruments Hapax Performance

video upload by MKustomAudio

"With recently obtaining the Squarp Instruments Hapax to act as my main standalone sequencer, I've been diving deep into all the functions it offers. This is the first track I've made putting together a number of items such as automation, assign controls, creative MIDI effects (register, arpoly, etc.), BPM elasticity, and adjustable start/stop loop lengths. I've added notes in the video explaining some key points for the track and additional equipment used, but below is a more detailed list of the sound sources:

Korg Arp 2600 M
Novation Peak
Novation Bass Station II
Korg Opsix
Sequential OB-6 Desktop
Elektron Digitakt II
Befaco Oneiroi
Soma Lyra-8, Erica Synths Black 3109 VCF/VCA, Qu-Bit Mojave
Make Noise STO + Schlappi Engineering Angle Grinder, Make Noise QPAS, Intellijel Sealegs
Moog Mother 32, Ritual Electronics Miasma (Erica Synths Black Polivoks VCF in feedback loop), Erica Synths Blackhole DSP2"

Exploring Polymetric Patterns With Elektron's Tonverk

video upload by EZBOT

"Polymetric Sequencing are a great way to come up with unique ideas and patterns that would be either extremely difficult to perform manually. Layering Polymetric Sequences makes for something very special and can often create fantastic ambient spaces. Today, we dive into this concept on the Elektron Tonverk, but it can be done on most sequencers."

RND synth - live session with Oda Fiasco Bravo

video upload by cyma forma

"meet our friend, collaborator and artist Oda Fiasco Bravo (@carnavaletmascarade).

for this live session in our workshop, the Digitakt is sending 4 different midi sequences to RND synth (acting as 4 parallel synths), while also playing pre-recorded samples of it.

the model:cycles is sending a midi clock to both the RND synth and the Digitakt while playing its own patterns.

this allows for a lot of layering and complex melodies, as well as additional fx."

"Crafting kits and programming patterns into the venerable Elektron Monomachine which remains a unique and powerful electronic instrument from a bygone era.

Trying out the latest version of the unofficial Monomachine firmware created by the incredibly talented Emuyia - as well as a genius and saint, they happen to also be a great musician and performer - check them out here:

Instagram: / e.m.d.a.s.h
Bandcamp: https://tinyurl.com/mr293u2n

This community-led update to the Monomachine adds modern functionality such as control-all, trig conditions and track length/division settings as well as lots of little quality of life improvements. It was easy as pie to install and has greatly expanded the performative capabilities of Elektron's venerable synthesiser.

Check out my sample packs on Bandcamp - loads of vintage and modern gear (leaning towards drum machines) with kits, sample chains and presets. All ethically-sourced and locally-grown here in the lab in Bristol, UK: https://lostlvls.bandcamp.com/"

"This one is personal. I got my hands on a 1974 Moog Minimoog Model D — one of the most iconic synthesizers ever built — and I couldn't wait to share it with you. In this video I do an informal walkthrough of its sounds, explore its capabilities, and close with a live performance using the Elektron Digitakt. No script, no plan, just me and a 50-year-old beast of a synth.
