Custom MATRIXSYNTH cap in front of Ghirardelli Square, San Francisco in via SynthAddict.

Taken "after heading to Ghirardelli Square in SF for a nice ‘end of the day’ hot fudge sundae.

You can see the sunset on the left, coming from the direction of the GG Bridge. 😀🍨🌉"

Cheers to that. :)

Stanford CCRMA open house, day 1

video upload by SynthAddict

The above is a walkthrough of a Stanford CCRMA open house from Thursday the 16th by supporing member SynthAddict. Take a look at what he walks into when he enters the building. A Yamaha GS1 with working voice programmer. The GS1 was the first commercial FM synthesizer released in 1980, three years prior to the DX7. John Chowning, discoverer of FM synthesis performed that night. According to SynthAddict: "The Chowning curated show last night was very eye opening - so much cool electronic music even going back to the 60s and it was digital."

And below :) "Today I got a shot of the Yamaha power synth stack in the lobby, with the best baseball cap on top. 😀"

Update: looks like the stream was here: https://ccrma.stanford.edu/live/. It's not working for me at the moment, but feel free to check and comment if it works for you.

First 8 minutes with the Behringer RD-9: Raw Techno Jam

video by Honeysmack

"First 8 minutes with the RD-9. All sounds are exclusively from the RD-9. Totally raw, improvised and unrehearsed Techno jam, nothing too serious, just throwing as much as I can at it, so please wipe away your tears before you get upset.🙃

Sounds great, very playable and performable. Feels nice and the new features evolve the original 909 sound and sequencer.

Now please don't go asking how it compares to the original, unless you are doing a high-school science project that you need answers in order to impress your classmates.😁 I'll have a 1:1 comparison of sorts for the Techno elitists very soon with my TR-909. FYI: Every TR-909 sounds different because each one is processed differently on different recordings by different producers!"

Aquifex - Reface DX live looper jam (one synth, all parts)

"Another of my 'one synths/all parts' demos. MIDI assist from Theoryboard (some chord variations) and Keystep (perc arps).

All layers played by hand into a multi-looper and remixed live to a stereo recorder.

The Reface DX has amazing sound and realtime timbre control for a 4-op synth. Some patches sound like 6-op patches, as in a DX-7."

Aquifex - Roli Equator 2 MPE live jams with multi-looper

"Demos of new Equator 2 with only MPE patches - played live into a multi-looper and mixed live while playing another part to a stereo recorder - I ran out of loops. :-) The live nature give rise to mistakes and a human feel... I upgraded my Roli Equator app to v.2 during CyberWeek and was inspired to make a couple of “soundtracky” demos with only Equator 2 MPE patches. In case you didn't know, Equator 1 and 2 have non-MPE patches of you need them."

These are in via supporting member, Synth Addict. Nice hat and website! :)

Aquifex - Modular and OP-Z jam 11-23-20

SynthAddict

"Quick experiment with a tempo locked rhythm and a wild snare and off tempo arp. As the beat comes around they sync up, get a little wild, and sync up again. Fun to try but YMMV. :-)

Used some new modules including a Plaits clone, Gyrinx VCF (Synton Syrinx filter bank), Grids, and some classics like Morphagene and Clouds with various modulation bits. That WMD Geiger Counter is a noisy bugger, but fun."

Note that is a custom MATRIXSYNTH hat by SynthAddict. It looks good! :)

"A quick-done cover (half an afternoon including sequencing, sound design, etc) from one of the most interesting DM instrumentals.

Gear used:

Access Virus TI Snow (Fx)
Kurzweil PC1x (Triggering the Virus)
Roland JX-8P (Square sound)
Emu Emax (pre recorded orchestal hits)

Backtrack recorded on Pro Tools, with lots of filter sweeps and distortions.
