Kurzweil K2500R with all three ROMs
Note: links to listings are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this VEMIA listing "One of Kurzweil's finest products, still relevant and producing great sounds after nearly 30 years. This one is badged RS but doesn't have the sampler in/outs. It comes from Paddy Kingsland (Radiophonic Workshop) and is in good condition.
The best thing: it includes the optional Stereo Piano, Contemporary and Orchestral ROMs, with their reference guides - as well as the massive K2500 series Performance Guide. These are very difficult to get hold of, individually - and having all three installed is a huge bonus."

Kurzweil K250 (1984)
video upload by MrFirechild
"Kurzweil K250 is a legendary synthesizer from 1984 and back then it was many years ahead of its competition! It was the worlds first rompler! For those owning Fairlight and Synclaivers you were able to use orchestral sounds but you have to load them from huge floppy discs or mega expensive hard drives and it took many minutes to load a single sound! The Kurzweil K250 changed all that! With a boot time in milliseconds you now had the full orchestra in your hands within a blink of an eye! All sounds were in ROM and instantly available. Despite the samples were all in mono and almost no velocity layers, they sounded good! And still do! Back then in 1984 you must have been really impressed to say the least! However the Kurzweil K250 was not for everyone as it was slightly expensive, around $12.000 for a basic configuration. However both the Fairlight Series II and Synclavier were way more expensive! So fair enough! How does it sound today you may ask and thats why I did this composition. Needless to say the K250 is mainly designed to play acoustic and orchestral sounds. There are only like 3 Synthesizer sounds in the machine! I used 1 in this track as an intro sound. So don't expect analog synthesizer glory when playing a K250!
The track is called Orchestral Rays and is an original composition by Mr Firechild (October 2025).
The following synthesizers were used for ALL sounds:

Synths That Tanked! Top 15 Value Crashes You Won’t Believe!?
video upload by Andy Whitmore
You be the judge. Feel free to comment below.
"💥 The biggest synth value crashes of all time! These once-iconic instruments lost tens of thousands in value—from legendary analog giants to futuristic digital monsters.
You've seen the synths that became priceless icons… but what about the ones that didn’t?
In this countdown, we reveal 15 professional synthesizers that lost the most value from their original prices (adjusted for inflation). From boutique rarities to digital behemoths, these are the synths that hit the market hard—and hit resale even harder.
🎹 We cover:
Synth name + release year
Original price + adjusted inflation value
Current resale value
Total loss 💸
A fun or tragic fact per synth
Whether it's a Fairlight, Synclavier, or the ultra-rare GX-1, some of this gear once cost more than a house… and now? Let’s just say you could buy one for the price of a laptop.
🧠Think you can guess the biggest loser?"

Kurzweil K2000RS Rackmount Digital Workstation Sound Module W/Sampling Option

Two pics of the inside below.
"Kurzweil K2000RS Rack Synthesizer w_sampling option (V3.87) – classic workstation module, Excellent condition. This unit has the latest firmware (v3.87) and is expanded with 32MB RAM for sampling at 48k. All MIDI, audio outputs, and floppy drive work perfectly. Note: The only issue is the internal FX engine is functioning with artifacts on the main outs only. (common in this run of Kurz units). This doesn’t affect the (8) direct outs and digital I/O, synthesis or sample-playback; Cosmetically, and internally, the rack unit is in fantastic shape. Comes with the original manual (which is considered the bible on how to design your own synth patches and beyond) and loads of floppy disks I've acquired along the way. The K2000RS is a legend – the piano presets are easily mistaken as the real thing considering the world of virtual pianos we have today. 16-part multitimbral, powerful V.A.S.T. synthesis."

Kurzweil K2000 digital synthesis
video upload by Collector Current
"We use the Kurzweil DSP to transform a sine wave into different sounds. First a classic PWM sound using asymmetric clipping, then a harsh digital using the 'WRAP' and 'SHAPER' DSP functions.
Although there is a lot of intentional clipping in this video there is also some unintentional clipping, sorry about that. This easily happens with K2000 DSP." Soundcloud: / collector-current

Kurzweil K2000 exponential envelopes via FUN
video upload by Collector Current
The standard envelope generators on the Kurzweil K2000 use linear slopes but you can make different shapes using the 'FUN' function generators. In this video we look at using 'hipass' to create an exponential decay envelope.
Thank you Ed for telling me about this technique.
