AIR Music Tech & Akai Professional Introduce Fabric Vintage Synths Vol. 1

video upload by AIR Music Tech

"Three legendary analog synths. One modern synthesis environment. https://inmusic.to/2p977r6r

From lush pads to punchy basses and soaring leads, Fabric Vintage Synths, Vol 1 channels the sonic character of three iconic hardware synthesizers, bringing new creative inspiration to your MPC or DAW-based workflow.

Inspired by three of the most influential analog polysynths ever created, this collection includes the Fabric Vintage Pro, Fabric Vintage Jup, and Fabric Vintage Memorymoog. Each instrument in this collection captures the sonic DNA of cherished 1970s and 1980s polyphonic synthesizers and places it inside a powerful, modern instrument designed for how producers, composers, and synthesists work today.

These instruments have been reimagined through the AIR Advanced Multi-Sample Synthesis Fabric Engine for flexible, intuitive music-making. This shared engine allows each synth to retain its unique identity while benefiting from a common, modern workflow across MPC hardware and desktop DAWs."

Akai MPC Sample Song Mode Demo: Nu-Jazz Funk with Your Old Pal Keith

video upload by Keith Crosley

"The Akai MPC Sample is a whole lot of fun, in a very portable package. But it's so addictive, I haven't had the time to do a proper review. (Also, I don't think such a review is fair until the release of the next firmware update.) SO... Here, we leverage my ginormous sample library of vintage beats, ephemeral film soundtracks, and even some weird symphonic arcs to realize a little track about "Precision-Controlled Pleasure". Grab your rhythm stick and get ready to kick it old-school San Francisco chillout style with this abbreviated MPC-A-GO-GO episode of your favorite (non)talky synthesizer content show!"

MPC Sample: Deep hypnotic techno. First attempt at a live jam

video upload by SynthDad

"I bought an MPC Sample for fun jamming so after a few hours of playing with it this is my first attempt at a deep hypnotic techno jam. Little rough around the edges in places, but hey that's live music for you!

Thinking about how I might pair it with a small portable modular setup. It's lacking some key features (step sequencer being one of them) but if I combine it with my Oxi One that's not an issue."

"Akai's MPC Sample is a portable chopping machine that is ready to go whenever a moment of inspiration strikes or as your lightweight companion through a day of slow-moving errands. Styled after their beloved MPC60, this beige beauty gives nostalgia and function in a battery-powered package. To ensure the size and ease-of-use remains paramount, the MPC Sample has a stripped down OS and micro pads but don't let the size fool you: this is an MPC through-and-through.

Whether using the built-in microphone, the stereo 1/4" jacks, or USB audio, you get quick access to the Sample Record section that is as easy as pressing a pad. A few quick trims using the multifunction knobs or using the shift and main encoder in combination will have you chopping and trimming in no time. Once you have your samples loaded, chopped, and assigned, recording a sequence is just as easy: just set the mode to Seq, adjust settings to taste, press the pad you want to record to, and you've got a loop. Resample that loop for further processing, use the step edit mode to make micro adjustments, and precompose a few sequences to switch between for full track performances.

The MPC Sample lets you engage effects in two different ways: the Knob FX and Pad FX. As their names portend, the Knob FX gives you access to a gang of effects including delays and reverbs, amp simulations, modulation effects, and vintage emulators. These effects are controlled with the three multifunction knobs for excellent playability. The Pad FX, on the other hand, are 16 always available effects that get triggered momentarily by the pads and are expressed via velocity. This is where you can get a stutter effect, several coloration effects, a half-speed effect, and other performable, musical delights. A fantastic choice for newcomers and veterans alike, the MPC Sample from Akai is a powerful tool for studio or stage that complements just about any other piece of equipment in your audio arsenal.

Lambda PolyPulse Midi Control Examples

video upload by Noel Sharp

"Controlling external synthesizers with the Lambda Synthetics PolyPulse x-y pads is much more versatile than you might expect. You can actually send one pad to up to 12 different midi channels and/or 12 completely different parameters, transforming external synth sounds the same way you can change internal synth sounds.

You can also send out notes from the internal sequencer or receive notes from an external sequencer. You can do both and control x-y parameters at the same time! You can setup the PolyPulse as the center of a live set or live jam session and have numerous effects and synthesizers radically transform at the same time."

Akai AX80 w/ Custom Wood Side Panels

Click the auction link on top when you get there for additional listings.

Akai AX-80 upgraded with new firmware, new wooden side panels, new pots, new backup battery and most important: fixed panel buttons. The AX-80 is an 8-voice analog polyphonic synthesizer. dual VCO, CEM filters, mesmerizing LED-graph display, programmable as well as preset ROM-programs, and interesting (and deep) modulation options and performance controls. Very lovely to play, and keyboard in very good order. Some of the preset sounds are very 1980s, but there are two banks for you to program your own sounds. New backup battery, completely new firmware from TaunTek added (chips changed), so now filter changes responds without waiting, and MIDI control is updated, several new parts including new volume pot (so no scratching), and new real and very nice wooden side panels. The flimsy voltage switch on the bottom is removed and the synth set to 220 Volts, but all is complete on the inside, so if there is need to change to 110V this is easy on the inside (requires soldering). All synth have one weak point, and for the AX-80 it is the front panel buttons, or more precisely the connections between the three front panel boards on the inside. This has been completely removed, rectified, old connections removed and brand new installed, so all front panel switches work without trouble. As seen from the photos the synth is well used, with scratches here and there, but technically it is now in top shape. All documentation and files are available digitally for the new owner: User manual, service Manuel, preset sounds files, firmware update info etc.

The importance of MIDI timing. Akai MPC swing. Any why GridLock II rocks.
