#jamuary2024 03 Plantwave & JD-08 in F# PentMin
video upload by SynthAddict
"From last night, fell asleep before uploading...
-Plantwave with iOS app (Bluetooth), preset set for F# PentMin
-Roland Boutique JD-08
-Irijule Theoryboard set for F# PentMin
-Korg MiniKP
-Edirol M-10MX
Plantwave connected to a sprig of St. John's Wort in medium light. I tried to modulate the plant response with red and white lights (to stimulate photosynthesis further) - not much reaction this time.
See my older video on Plantwave where I demo white, red, and UV pocket lights to change the plant response and the synth modulation follows - sort of like a biological D-beam control. :-) [posted here]
I think the Plantwave app preset wasn't set to modulate the sounds the same way my Roland MC-101 was in the older video. Next time I will do a demo of Plantwave connected via MIDI to a hardware synth."

Hardware Jams Weekend Challenge: From Scratch in C Aeolian (wonky timing)
video upload by SynthAddict
"Hardware Jams Weekend Challenge: From Scratch
(no pre-made seqs allowed) in C Aeolian
Timing gets a little wonky, and this is take 8, so I left it like a live concert with lots of imperfections (including the timing).
Some parts were a bit polymetric, but some polyrhythm creeps in there too. :-P
Gives it a weird time-shifted feel as parts go in and out of sync.
It might drive you a little crazy...
Working on stuff late at night has its price sometimes.

Ensoniq MR-Rack + Doctor A reverb (TheoryBoard controller)
video upload by SynthAddict
0:00 Patch demo (no external FX)
0:54 Patch demo 2 with Doctor A reverb
"A basic manual sequence of a layered patch on the MR-Rack, with and without the Doctor A reverb. Demo played with an Irijule TheoryBoard.
The MR-Rack is one of Ensoniq's last few products before becoming part of E-mu and then all under Creative Labs - finally disappearing forever. It's based on the MR-61 and MR-76 keyboards, and it's a nice mixture of quality samples (with upgrade boards for hiphop, world music, etc.) and wavetables (transwaves)."

MYSTIC FREQUENCIES - ENSONIQ FIZMO & IRIJULE THEORYBOARD TEST 01
video upload by Mystic Frequencies
"First test of new gear! The Ensoniq FIZMO and IRIJULE THEORYBOARD!
Totally playing what came to mind, trying a few things.
It became apparent pretty fast that I need to take advantage of the Theoryboard's Dual Midi outs so the chords don't get cut off from lack of Polyphony. One thing IRIJULE definitely got right on the Theoryboard is its DIRECT MIDI OUTPUTS, no computer needed thank god!
The Theoryboard is playing the Novation Summit in this test, the MatrixBrute is MIDI'ed to the Ensoniq Fizmo and is the master MIDI clock too. Drums are LinnDrum sequenced by the Polyend SEQ."

Unseen Forces - Aquifex collab - Rain 1 remix 040921
"My friend Unseen Forces sent me a minimal synth/drum demo, and I was inspired to chop it up and add some parts I made live on looper with the JD-Xi and its internal FX. Afterward, the loops were mixed down live to a stereo recorder.
It's live, so it isn't perfect but it was fun. The key is F#min.
This is similar to the band project 'The Postal Service', where parts were shared and collaborated remotely, but they sent stuff back and forth multiple times."
Update via SynthAddict in the comments:
"I forgot to mention, my track additions were made with the help of the wonderful TheoryBoard - I could never come up with all those chords/inversions on my own. Thanks Irijule...
Also the velocity/aftertouch works fine, contrary to many complaints - you just have to set the right velocity profile for you. You can hear the bassline filter cutoff as I change my velocity."

IRIJULE Theoryboard Thy333
via this auction
TheoryBoard Thy333 | 5 Minute Explanation video by TheoryBoard
"The TheoryBoard is a music theory MIDI controller. It was invented for the purpose of allowing easier access to the complex world of music theory. When the user loads a scale they have access to every chord and every note within that scale (& hot keys for key changes + 7 modes). Chords (harmony) and notes (melody) are linked together via color allowing a visual reference while playing. The control panel allows chords to be manipulated in every possible way (octave/stack/spread/voicings/inversions, over 1.9 billion chord combinations). It's a new type of musical instrument as well as a production/composition tool."

Irijule Theoryboard and Ensoniq Fizmo - chord demos
SynthAddict
"Mellow/moody, live jam made from a chord exercise I was doing with the Irjule Theoryboard and the Ensoniq Fizmo."
"Mellow/moody live jam made from a chord exercise I was doing with the Irjule Theoryboard and the Ensoniq Fizmo. Later I added more layers live while mixing the loops to a recorder using Dave Spier’s amazing G-Force Software M-Tron Pro, with his new free Isolation Choir add-on (Covid-19 inspired)."
