Join us live on August 21, 2025 at 8 pm EDT as we present the entire 𝘚𝘺𝘯𝘵𝘩 𝘓𝘦𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴 symposium from April 19, 2005 - Bob Moog’s final public appearance. This historic event, originally organized by Russ Jones of AudioMIDI, brings together synth pioneers Bob Moog, Tom Oberheim, Dave Smith, and Marcus Ryle, with Roger Linn moderating. For the first time ever, the full 1-hour and 38-minute symposium will be broadcast in its entirety.

Note: the original audio recorded at this 2005 event was only captured on the camera mics and is not studio-perfect. We’ve worked to make audio enhancements, including painstaking audio mastering by Harold LaRue (https://haroldlaruemastering.com), to make this once-in-a-lifetime conversation as clear as possible. We suggest turning on closed captioning in order to not miss any of the content.

J3PO OB Tribute Patches for Omnisphere -- OFFICIAL SOUNDS DEMO

"In this video, I demo all 50 patches from my new J3PO OB Tribute library for Spectrasonics' Omnisphere--a patch bank dedicated to the legendary Oberheim synthesizers.

This collection is inspired by the iconic Oberheim synths: OB-X, OB-Xa, OB-8, OB-6, Matrix-12, and the Two Voice Pro. Every patch was built inside Omnisphere using Oberheim-style oscillators and filters, with a few custom samples from my own Oberheim synths to bring even more analog character into the mix.

In this demo, I use the OB-6 strictly as a MIDI controller to play the sounds (and for some visual homage to the great OB synthesizers). All the sounds you are hearing are coming from within Omnisphere--including the FX.

"A piece created with a tape loop, Norns Shield, ‪@teenageengineering‬ OP-1 field, and Omnisphere. Piano recorded to tape drifts into haze as it is broken apart, while minimal piano and soft harmonies surface.

Tape loop: About one minute of piano was recorded to tape. During playback it runs through the BOUNDS delay on the Norns Shield and is further treated with reverb and filtering in ‪@strymon‬ NIGHTSKY.

OP-1 field: A simple harmony is recorded and looped.

Ableton Live: Adds a minimal piano phrase from software synths, feedback textures, and additional processing."

"A piece created with the ‪@teenageengineering‬ EP-133 K.O.II, OP-1 field, and ‪@SpectrasonicsVIDEO‬ Omnisphere, where looping beats intertwine with shimmering synth tones.

EP-133 K.O.II: A loop built from drum, bass, and electric-piano samples. The unit is synchronized to the OP-1 field via USB-C.

OP-1 field: A 16-bar synth-pad performance is pre-recorded and looped, with live synth-lead lines played on the internal keyboard. The CWO effect is engaged for occasional modulation, and the output is routed through ‪@gfisys‬ SPECULAR TEMPUS for shimmer reverb.

Omnisphere: Provides additional synth textures layered into the track."

Depressive Silence - Forest of Eternity - Dungeon Synth Cover - Supernatural Darkness

"My absolute most listened to and favourite track in the Dungeon Synth genre. It took me some considerable time to learn by ear on guitar and arrange in Reaper DAW. It was performed with a combination of layered hardware and VST synths. Lead melodies are a combination of Juno 106 strings, Kontakt string ensemble, and Omnisphere layered OBX. My intention was not to copy the keyboards used on the original (Korg N364 and Yamaha PSS 1700 apparently) but use a combination of what I have available to achieve something as melancholic and dreamy as the original. The piece is F minor throughout slightly flattened probably from the tape speed. For ease of performance I transposed my keyboards to F# minor."
