Misprints of the Synth World

Update: Make sure to check out the comments in this post for some other interesting examples.

Thought this was interesting. Peter Forrest of Spheremusic and the VEMIA auction called out that the Korg PS-3100 up for auction had LIMITER misspelled as LIMITTER. Ron West posted a link to the image below where you can see it. According to Peter Forrest the mistake was caught and later models were corrected. I wonder how many other synths have unintentional misprints. I know many of my posts do. : )

"I was just having a last play on the Korg PS-3100 that is in the auction ending today, and saw that this one has the spelling mistake LIMITTER on its front panel. It's serial number 712139 - presumably an early one, before it was spotted and corrected."

  1. There's a knob on my DSI Polyevolver Keyboard labelled "FIILTER"...

Don't know if thats been fixed yet or they're all like that.

  2. it reminds me of the tr-808 in the old propellerheads ReBirth software, where the 'snappy' control for the snare is labelled "snapy." i don't know if that was intentional or not, maybe they just didn't want to squeeze in that extra P.

  3. There's an Enverope control on some PG200 programmers.

  4. It's spelled correctly on my PS-3300, but that part of the synth is called "CONTROLLED VOLTAGE PROCESSORS," which opens up an interesting symantics discussion. Not as charming as the Studio Electronics rack-mounted 808 with a volume pot for the "CYMBALL." Probably intentional on Greg's part.

Check the auction link and search for the item. Auctions are from various sellers and expire over time. Posts remain for the pics and historical purposes. This site is meant to be a daily snapshot of some of what was out there in the world of synths.
