Waldorf is Back!

Title link takes you there. The message is in German, babblefished below into English. The English site just states coming soon... And... Stefan Stenzel is back!!! Too cool.

"Is it that? What is to at the rumors around the German Synthesizer legend...? Now, here some unspektakulaere facts are to provide for little light. Yes, it does which in the Waldorfer Laendchen... the rights became by that whale village SL, represented by Joachim Flor and Kurt Wangard, acquired. The new whale village Music GmbH is in the establishment phase and Stefan Stenzel and franc cutter as well as Michael of Garnier and Wilfried Eckl will enter. Who is that now again? Joachim Flor is the head and Macher the new whale village Music GmbH Joachim was already in the establishment phase the whale villages Electronics on board and contributed considerably to their success. Kurt (Lu) Wangard, accompanied the whale village Electronics as Office manager by all heights and depths and is completely wild to see lighting up the old battle ship in the gloss of the modern times. Stefan Stenzel, Mastermind and former director/conductor of the research and development department, as well as the franc cutter, one of the initial members the whale villages Electronics, responsibly for hardware and production management, engaged themselves also during the dark days for the whale village municipality. Now the two guarantors for continuity and innovation work again with commitment and high pressure on new projects for the rope-fresh whale village Music. For fresh wind provide Michael of Garnier and Wilfried Eckl, which throw their bundled know-how for selling and marketing into the scale pan. In the next weeks still further partners will on board come and the team will complete, which was written ambitious goals on the flag. Curiously? Well so! "

  1. So "Waldorf" translates literally into "whale village?" That's hilarious!

  2. This is far more exciting news than the new Moog.

  3. Sadly, I would agree - Moog can only keep changing the wood cabinets on their synths for so long. Competition breeds innovation. Let's hope for a whole new generation of exciting and versatile synths! From Moog and Waldorf, and the other wonderful 'cottage industry' synth makers.

  4. Someone told me once that Waldorf means "little village".

Anyhow...great news! Here's hoping for OS updates.

  5. Let me get my stopwatch to time how long they'll stay afloat this time.
They have a long backlog of irate customers to deal with too.

  6. What irate customers? Practically everyone I've talked to that owns a Waldorf product is absolutely extatic about said products.

  7. waldorf is an awesome synth company

yes, we need as much innovation in synth tech as we can get - and waldorf always pushed the envelope in outstanding ways...

(i get the feeling im not the only one thats majorly dissapointed in moogs latest product - although there are certainly enuf obsessed fanboys to drown out our dismay)

but - what the hell is "rope-fresh whale village Music"? sounds pretty wacky

  8. Hooray! I love Waldorf... always have. And I'm excited to see what they come up with. I hope there's room for Wolfram Franke back at the inn too - he did great DSP work.

  9. I'm sorry to put a dampner on things but I can't help thinking this is an April Fools joke. I hope it isn't.

  12. "whale village" ... wtf? No "Waldorf" is basically the german contemporary spelling of "Wald-dorf" and that's a small village in or next to the woods

Oh another thing: never owned a Waldorf synth ... are they any good?

    ReplyDelete
  13. but if you type "Waldorf" in babelfish it does say "whale village".

  14. Are they any good?

    They're only THE best ;)

  15. hi, I am german.. let me say this: wald is simply the forrest / woods.. it is simply a village in or near the woods, thats the truth ;)

and truly the todays waldorf is in fact in the woods, there is not much around it exept TREES!!..

waldorf synths are really worth listening, strange: no VA comes close even after they had no update ;)

and it does not have those exciter-swirl kind of artefacts that some VAs still have..

but just one: I like the old myth of a new XT os, but be sure they will not do that.. even for money it may be a strange threory.. they can only keep themselves alive when there will be a new synth somewhere s.o.o.n.er or later..

  16. oops, that was me , moogulator
sorry, have no login.. I don't like to register and give them another email ;)

  17. Thanks Moogulator. That and they are a new company with a new start. Hopefully they will not regret picking the Waldorf name. : ) I think most Waldorf owners including myself, are super excited that they are back and will not be pushing for OS updates and the like for older products. If they do, then wow, if not then no problem from me. I'd like a Poly Pulse in a three octave synth myself. : )

  18. Moogulator, can you explain what you mean by, "exciter-swirl kind of artefacts that some VAs still have.."?

Do you mean the sort of "ringy" sound that the oscillators exhibit in the higher frequencies?
