Messing with a SubMuxDeluxe...

Title link takes you to a 2.47M mp3 Via legion of Help Wanted Productions.

"Two new Cyndustries modules arrived this week; a Submuxdeluxe and a mixSix. I put them to immediate use in this demo using the Submux as a sequencer. I'm feeding it a VCO and LFO from a Fenix and taking the various outputs (including the stair out feeding a second VCO) into the MixSix. The warbling drone that begins and ends it all is a DSC being tortured by a Burst Generator and Triple Rez filter. Ok so that really doesn't belong on a demo of the Submux but sue me, I can't do anything "normal" with this thing in my hands."

Nice cat shot via legion. BTW, if you can understand what he is saying you have advanced from apprentice to journeyman my fellow synth geek.

  1. So is the sub mux deluxe some sort of binary fuzz thing? It doesn't sound 'sub octave' like the description says. It sounds like a noise scrambler. Sort of like a frequency divider fed a complex wsveform.

  2. well I went to the submux page and played the 303 mp3 demo and while I agreee that it seems more than a sub octave follower, I have to say that was an inspiring clip

that would give the metasonix stuff a run for the money

  3. the sub mux is a MOTM design primarily made to add lower octaves to an incoming signal, however it is capable of doing much more. it takes two inputs and allows you to ring modulate them. In this case I am using an LFO to modulate a VCO and using the "octave" knobs to tune the bouncing sound like a sequencer. So yes, it can be a noise srcambler as well :)

  4. Regarding the noise - he does mention he's using a DSC, which I assume is a (Blacet) Dark Star Chaos. And yeah, it's a suboctave thing that outputs square waves. Then since you can do a ringmod sort of thing with squares only that's very low on parts, it's added.
