one of the best synth logos ever. I always liked it, and the big outline font on the ob series too.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's definitely my favorite.
ReplyDeletethats interesting - i never noticed how "felix the cat" looking it was before
ReplyDeleteIf you like that logo, check out this one from inside my old OB-SX:

I read in an interview that Mr. Van Halen wrote "Jump" when he was trying to figure out the chords to "Kiss on My List" by Messrs. Hall & Oates.
ReplyDeleteIn the 'inside the Ion' post earlier in this blog, you see the alesis silk screen version of same logo.
ReplyDeleteBetter in foil tho.
i still like the buddha inside the Pro-One best
ReplyDeleteYa, that's the best.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it...
ReplyDeleteThat price is obsolutely ridiculous.
Yeah, nothing beats the Pro-One for that circuit board surprise stuff.
ReplyDeleteEven better than the silkscreened Hindu god (I don't think it's Buddha) is the etched mushrooms and mantra writing.
sorry, you are wrong there
ReplyDeleteit is supposedly Chenrizig, the Tibetan Buddha of Compassion - and beyond that the image is recognizable as thangka style artwork, not hindu
Oh well, I'd just never seen a Buddha with four arms before.
ReplyDeleteGood to know.
hehe 4 arms isnt really alot when it comes to tibetan buddhist deities
ReplyDeletecheck out this statue of a thousand armed, eleven headed Avalokiteshvara
and sometimes Chenrizig is also depicted with a thousand arms as well
multiple arms are symbolic of the buddhas compassionate activity in many different forms and dimensions simultaneously, while the multiple heads symbolize progressive degrees of transcendent awareness
So Yeti, since you know alot about this stuff, Do you know what group of monks built the Pro-One's in San Jose?
ReplyDeleteFYI the final price was $3550....for that I'd rather get the DSI PEK and 3 Moogerfoogers
ReplyDeleteWTF!! $3550?? There was just a Memorymoog + w/factory MIDI that had a Buy It Now cheaper than that!
ReplyDeletei know a bit about buddhism, but ive never heard anything about monks building the pro-one
ReplyDeletewhats that about?
I can't find anything on it with google right now. But I seem to remember reading something about the Pro-Ones being built by a trippy religious group. Maybe it was a lie, who knows.
