I know it has holy-grail status with lots of folks out there, but my friend used to have a Waldorf Wave, and it just sounded like the old rack mount Waldorf to me. Some people like that sound, but it doesn't really have the grit & character of the PPG. And the knobs were kind of flimsy. Eh, to each his own.
ReplyDeleteDo you think the Wave is even much better than a 30-voice XTK? I wouldn't think it could be $5000 better.
ReplyDeleteI'll pass this onto Steve @ qrazysynthguy. ..
ReplyDeleteThe waldorf line of synths is not as appetizing as the waldorf line of salads, or the waldorf faulty towers salad episode.
ReplyDeleteStill, it's a good 3rd.
Que?
ReplyDeleteIt is all a matter of taste, but the WAVE has lot's of stuff to offer you do not find on the Microwave or XT, some not even on any other synthesizer.
ReplyDelete- HPF, BP and Dual Filter Modes
- 16 Voices
- permanent multi mode, great for layers
- vast modulation sources (i.e. playspeed)
- sample analysis
- one kob per function approach
- user friendly interface
- tiltable panel
- great keyboard action
- lots of master keyboard functions
- silky and warm sound
- different colour schemes available
Georg.
Doktor Future is right. Silky & warm is one thing, but walnuts and apples out perform any tiltable panel.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but nobody is going to throw $6000 in the mail to a seller with only six ancient feedbacks. Maybe try and sell something smaller to begin with?
ReplyDeleteIs it still for sale? I might just drive up there to buy it.
ReplyDeleteThe wave is still for sale
ReplyDeleteCheers
