nice sample.. by the way the drawing of the 200e is buy Jason Butcher
ReplyDeleteBah. This is clearly the SMS/2000. Everyone knows that holy Buchla noise can't be recorded into an MP3.
ReplyDeleteThe SMS/2000 sure sounds nice tho.
Wow, I soooo could not make those sounds with any other modular. :-|
ReplyDeleteESP the effervescent granulations. Oh wait, that's Metasynth.
ReplyDeleteOh, and the reverb. That's Convolution 2000.
yeah but you'd have more fun making those sounds on a Buchla, and you know it!
ReplyDeleteA honda will get you as far as a bently, it's not just about practicality.
Ultimate synth bling, brings out all the haters.
Dude, they're not called 'sounds' on the Buchla. They're called 'Experiences'.
ReplyDeleteIf the Buchla was all finished in Red Leather, now that would be something. The most decadent thing in the universe is, I'm pretty sure, 'Red Leather Stairs with Brass Tacks'.
Someone ought to do some fine leatherwork on a synth panel. Perhaps outsource to the Bently folks?
Dude...Bentley?

You guys are dancing around the fact that it's sterile & icy.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, it does sound sterile and icy. Dare I say, digital?
ReplyDeleteImagine if Don Buchla released the 'Quad Morphic Fourier Multiplier' that encompassed filters ala Moog, Arp, Oberheim, EMS and others in one mega module. That would shut everyone up :)
ReplyDeleteThen he could freak everyone out even more by releasing a module actually called 'Attenuator' or dare I say 'Envelope'.
> Oh, and the reverb. That's Convolution 2000.
ReplyDeleteI think it's sad that the new Buchla doesn't include a spring reberb.
Dorkter Future,
ReplyDeleteSome one should do some fine leather work on your face.
Are you being sarcastic? Envelopes are simple to patch on Buchla's.
I guess you can read ADSR pretty well by now.
buchla has already made envelope generators - 280/284
ReplyDeletethe 281 is capable of making standard ( and abstract) Envelope shapes as well as being used as LFOs, Quardrature Osc etc so it would be inaccurate and lazy to refer to it as an Envelope Generator
Dorktor Future was poking fun that nothing is named traditionally.
ReplyDeleteNaturally the barber poll generator must have ten thousand uses, and it is certainly clear that 281e Quad Function Generator has more than 4 functions, even if one of them is ADSR. (although you need an OR gate to make it into an ADSR?!?! Why?).
I think it would be so funny if he released a module actually called 'ADSR Envelope' that did that. It would be funny to me.
