does anyone know any place that even has this unit in stock in th usa?
ReplyDeletegoing nuts trying to find it..
I like the unit for the features and layout of the UI.
ReplyDeleteFinally a unit that has joystick, Ribbon controller AND Crossfader (allthough this one looks like a joke)
The Cme Version is actually a new hardware design. The original Bitstreams had an Infrared controller, that was replaced in the new version due to the D-Beam patent of Roland.
(How did Alesis it then with the Air FX?)
More infos from the Waveidea website.....
"The differences between the Wave Idea and CME version are listed below :
Infrared controller has been replaced by a ribbon controller (A Roland D-Beam patent exists. In order to avoid any problem with Roland, we have decided to replace this infrared by a ribbon controller)
Joystick has been replaced by a model with "No return to center" since this model was mostly preferred
Price has been reduced"

I'd luv to see a non-plastique
version of this with pushencoders, second joystick, X/Y pad and a real crossfader!
Wouldn't mind seeing this thing packed into a 3 octave keyboard, with drumpads and Stepsequencer either. :-).
I just hope the Midi implementation is done buy the frenchies and not by CME. (some UF users waiting for updates might feel with me here ;-))
However, looks like a nice controller for Ableton et al. that is affordable as well.
I'd still prefer a remote Sl for DAW control, but as a controller For Live (gigs and software) it could be just right on the money.
If the firmware has a mode wherein the 4x8 matrix of knobs can function as a pseudo-analogue sequencer, then I would eat a wild dingo just to have one... I am thinking four simultanious 8-step sequences on assignable channels, or two sixteen-step, or one 32-step sequence... all that plus the buttons and faders and wheeznots would be unbeatable.
