Vyzor Ion

Editor for the Alesis ION and Micron from the makers of this DSI Evolver editor. I found this one in the comments of this VSE thread. Make sure to read the thread if you are considering it. If anyone has experience with thier Evolver editor, please feel free to comment on the quality and overall experience.

  1. Well since you asked , I have the Vyzor DSI editor and it is now and will be (once it is finished) a nice tool. It's not perfect , since there are some inherited behaviors from MIDIQuest and the interaction between the software and the Evo architecture memory buffers takes some getting used to, however, once you learn the quirks you adjust mentally and go forward. To me it has made the DSI sequencer very useful. Trying to sequence the EVO natively has always been a real chore, that part of the software alone is worth the bucks....also the patch librarian is superior to sysex dumps and restores any day of the week ......I say read the whiners with caution....

  2. I bought Soundcraft's Evolver editor, which works well. I was interested in Vyzor's Evo editor too but their promises failed to materialize before I sold the Evo.

I am not saying the company is not capable of creating good software ( I wouldnt know..I cant buy the real thing yet!! ) but they are virtually guilty of vaporware. The guy from the company is very willing to show up in specific user forums and hype his products before they are available and then get all defensive when his potential buyers give him crap for wasting their time with unfulfilled promises. After the beta (it's STILL beta???) became downloadable there was some arrangement avalable to PAY for downloading the beta (HUH?) with a promise that you'd get a discount on the real thing. That's IF you could get through and actually download the beta. The people who are writing the software couldn't even manage to competently program a simple website?? What does that tell you? Check their website...there is no real Evo editor yet. To the people that are selling the beta: stop making promises unless you have a relatively bug-free product that is nearly ready to sell and support. Simple as that.

Once again, Vyzer may be a capable company and I don't have anything they've programmed, but based on the FACT that they have pulled Evolver owners chains forever and a day and have the gall to charge for a beta, I don't care how good it is, in my opinion they are not much more than snails-pace hypesters.

    Anyone remember the Tucker automobile?

  3. The UI's are nice. I want them to do an Andromeda Editor. They said they were working on it, but they are probably unsure as to interest -- I'd buy it!

  5. I use the Vyzor Editors for my TC Helicon Voice Pro and Voice Live
and they are a GREAT help in programming these machines and archiving presets. Love how the Gui mimiks the hardware and the way they managed to get the endless edit menu of the Voice Live into a programable UI.This is what Sounddiver was meant to be. And they are available for free too. Great Stuff.

  6. I've got both the Soundtower editor and the Vyzor editor for my Evolver. I bought the Vyzor deal for better access to the Evo's sequencer.

I uninstalled the Vyzor editor a couple of weeks after getting it. It's just too flaky, with too many bugs inherited from the platform it's "written" on (Midiquest, or whatever it's called these days)..

They do seem to be actively trying to get stuff ironed out, but they're too closely tied with the progress of the parent application to make real usability advances on their own. As of now, there are some major improvements promised once Midiquest releases it's next rev. It's pretty to look at, but I think Vyzor (and their users) will be much better off when they can ditch Midiquest and write their own code.

Still.. when V2.0 of the Vyzor Evo editor is released, I'll grab it and see how it's shaping up. Until then, I'll happily use the Soundtower editor. It's proven to be really stable and responsive with nary a hit on my cpu.

  7. I still don't understand why Vyzor made an editor for the Evolvers...
The Soundtower one was easy to use, graphically nice, robust and has excellent support - not to mention its free with the Polyevolver and has Dave Smith's endorsement.

Soundtower's editor for the Microwave XT is my favorite software editor ever. These guys do good work.
