  1. Is that bottom pic a Sergula?

  2. I like those blank Buchla panels.

They're the 200z series. Zzzzz. The top ones are configured to let you 'listen to the sound of slience'. The left one is clearly the ultra-rare John Cage version.

The bottom two are kinesthetic 'listen to the sound of one hand clapping'. The preset manager can either configure the 'left hand clapping' or the 'right hand clapping', but not both.

  3. Wasn't the Monolith in 2001 a 7-inch by 4 and a quarter inch piece of aluminum?

  4. reed:

    yes, I recall it was!

BTW: The 2001 monolith is the ultimate iPod.

Just think about it: Add the HAL 9000 eye (click wheel), the monolith shape (ipod), and now there's just a Red iPod. hmmm.m.m.m.m....

  5. Regardless of the scorn others like to heap on the Buchla, in person it is an impressive and unique instrument.

By the way, the Monolith's dimensions were 1:4:9, the squares of the first three counting numbers.

  6. Sorry, I couldn't hear you. I was listening to a slowed down recording of Douglas Rain singing "Bicycle Built for Two" on my HAL-pod.
