I really like videos like this. Much better than the manufacturer demos (usually).
I'm thankful to the guys who do videos like this, but man... I promise that if I ever make one, you won't have to watch me twist five knobs in a row that do nothing. Work these things out in advance! ;)
ReplyDeleteDam those sound great! I prefer the Jomox and the Synth Mangler. Add some more to the list of gear I must have. The Jomox kinda sounds like my Polyvoks filter, though the Jomox has allot more power. I really like the drum loop.
ReplyDeleteYah, it really seems like the Jomox is hard to dial in sounds but I admit it confuses me. The subtleties of positions make an enormous differences that some turns do nothing if another is moved, ie; you need envelope control positive before the filter does any change, like a real synth. I was trying to show all possibilities on all three and I think it does that. You won't get any more put of those than you see there. BTW, I think the Sonic Alienator is the most versatile distortion. That'd be the one I'd keep if only one. Dan

ReplyDeletewell for the money (about $100 on eBay) the best bit crusher of all out there is the Alesis Bitrman - compressor, distortion, phaser, bit reduction in any order you want, it drives drum machines crazy.... but I'm curently in love with the M-resonator , yes the sweet spots move around, are hard to dial in as the video shows but when they hit , they're the best, almost like getting a free basssline synth in yu mox ...I find that the Sonic Alienator is really a limited DnB tool....and a good one at that , but just not as interesting , the bass artifacts that come out of the jomox are really down there, I do not have a synth mangler so I can't comment on that

ReplyDeleteDoes the neutronium resonator (the big expensive one) let you do things like that to incomming audio?
ReplyDeleteThe Neuronium in complexity and difficulty makes the M-Resonator look like a one knob volume control. I could get nothing playable or musical out of it. If you want drones and shimmering textural flows, try it out. I can;t sense one product sounds like the other or the filter in the Neuronium is the M-Res. Re-examining my video, I change to liking the M-Res the most now, that drum loop sequence at the end blows me away. The M-Res can track and envelope to the beats in the loops and that makes it the best (I had a Sherman but like this better).
ReplyDeleteI've always wondered why the Neuronium wasn't just programmed to be a VST and why anyone would pay 3 grand for one.
