i would trade my 2600 (not serial killer one) for this
ReplyDeleteNot by a long shot! It may be the 1st of Model 2812 but the Ody started with the whiteface Model 2800...

The first serials are best for collectors that can't play.

Speaking of the Ody ... with all the synth wood panel auctions popping up on eB*y lately, one of those cats should consider something for the Arp. I love me ol' black & gold, but would definitely up the class factor.
ReplyDeleteI think the "2812" was the last rev (or sub-rev) to use the 4035 Moog ladder filter design (the other two being the 2810 & 2811).
ReplyDeleteArp introduced the 4075/4072 filter in late 1976 so I'm suspecting this particular Odyssey was made in that year.
There were two more sub-revs of the Odyssey II, the "2813" and "2815", before the black & orange face Odyssey III ( 2820-2823) appeared in early 1978.
All these had the newer 4075 Arp filter with the design error.

So it seems to me that the key question is: does this model 2812 have the (illegal) old moog (model 4035) filter or does it have the newer filter designed by ARP?
ReplyDeleteAnyone knows the answer to this question? And if not, is there anyway you can "see" which filter they used? Or do you have to hear it?
If it has the old moog filter, it seems quiet a buy to me, no?
