TAMA DS200

No title link, just this one shot via this auction.

I haven't seen one of these before. According to the auction, this is a "2 channel oscillator DS 200 Analog Drum Synth." If you know more feel free to comment.

Previous TAMA posts

Update via the comments:
"I own one. It has 2 oscillators, which can be triggered by an audio signal via the front jacks (there are no jacks of any kind on the back). The unit is supposed to replicate a kick drum, and it comes reasonably close, in a 1970's washed out fashion. It does not kick hard, but it does have a ridiculously long decay setting. It also makes those disco bloops and bleeps you've heard so much of. Where this thing really shines though, is in making noise. It has a long 'sweep' knob, coupled with a 'tone' and 'decay' knob that can make a sound go from growl to scream in a very guttural way. If your familiar with Wolf Eyes, they use it on just about every track."

  1. The eBay revenue sharing must be good. ;-)

  2. I knew someone would comment! I swear you guys read my mind. Not on the revenue sharing but the number of Ebay posts lately. I was thinking the same thing. I was going to apologize for the number of them in this last post, but decided not to. I thought someone would say something. Same thing with the previous Ebay posts with the guy with 0 feedback. I was going to comment about that in the post but decided not too. I thought someone would comment on it, and sure enough someone did. I think I'll go with my gut next time and comment.

As far as the Ebay posts, yeah, I'm beginning to burn out on putting them up, but then I figure just put it up before it's gone forever. The stuff just comes in waves. I try to just grab the interesting items and/or the "better" shots. If I was after the money, I'd be putting up a hell of a lot more up. Check out Ebay and see what's up there. I frequently skip a lot of good stuff for sale, because the sale itself doesn't warrant a post. The content has to be the equivalent of something I'd find elsewhere.

Anyway, apologies for the amount going up, some days will be better than others, and in the long run I think having all of this stuff archived may not be valuable to everyone, but will be to some. I'm constantly surprised by the interest of some posts I put up. I'll be on the fence, decide to put it up just in case and someone will comment making it worthwhile.

And as usually, if something doesn't interest you just skip over it. What's a filler post for some is interesting to others.

  3. Damn Blogger should have editing capabilities for comments. Just ignore my typos and bad grammar.

  4. Here's an example of one I was on the fence with: Oberheim OB-Mx. It's interesting in that you don't see these come up often, but there was absolutely nothing in the auction worth posting other than that. But then again, now I just posted it here in the comments! :P

  5. I like the Ebay postings, if for no other reason than the pictures.

  7. I bought the CMU-800R because it was posted on analog industries. I wouldnt have known about it otherwise. Keep em up. Good stuff comes in waves, your absolutely right, most good waves of good ebay stuff come along when I'm broke.

  8. Well, back to the topic of what this thing is... I own one. It has 2 oscillators, which can be triggered by an audio signal via the front jacks (there are no jacks of any kind on the back).
