"Waldorf AFB-16
* 16 analog lowpass filters with self oscillation and overdrivable VCA, 12/24 dB per octave.
* Connects to the computer with USB 2.0.
* Included are the following plug-ins: PPG Red, Rot and Messing.
* Comes with original box, manual, installation CD, USB cable and power cable.
* In fantastic condition!
* Works perfectly (recently tested), but still as with all old equipment sold "as is". Does not work with all USB2 chipsets, but I have used it with Intel (a Dell computer) and NEC chipsets without problems.
* A Google search will provide you with lots of information about it."
I'd rather like 16 different filters in one box.
ReplyDeleteA few Moog's, Arp's, Multimodes, etc... Heck even a Buchla (tee hee).
Now *THAT* would be a killer product: Stereo IN and real analog filters (one for each channel) and individual outs for each filter, and a mix.
Add MIDI and CV control and there you go.
What filters should be in such a box?
Call it FilterCrate. or
Another Ebay post. I thought they were going on Matrix Synth B?
ReplyDeleteYeah, but for strange things you don't see often (and an AFB sure qualifies), I appreciate the Non-B post.
ReplyDeleteYep, good shots, rarities and interesting details go up on Matrixsynth. I don't discriminate on the source. If it's flickr, Ebay, something someone sends me, it goes up regardless. B is for the rest, but not everything. If you want to check out a filtered list of everything, click on the "Synths on Ebay" link at the top right of each site. It's set to filter out a bunch of crap although some still slips in. It's also set to show the newest items first. It's what I check every night for the posts. It's the US site only though. I can barely keep up with it so I haven't been checking the German and other Ebay sites. The stuff that comes in from the German Ebay usually comes from email lists I'm on.
ReplyDeleteI never understood why they would make something expensive like that unless they wanted to use up the filter chips... or go out of business
ReplyDeleteWhen I heard it mentioned I thought "hey what a great idea" because I misunderstood what it did. I wrongly thought that what it was, was a hardware option for some new waldorf polysynth. I thought you could by an all digital polysynth and then upgrade it with this, or even better a VSTi that had an analog filter option
I *did* come with a VSTi which took advantage of the analog filters. More were planned as well. It's a shame that this product didnt do better. It probably had a lot to do with the price. It seems like today that everyone is going for the whole "integration" spiel, Waldorf was ahead of the pack in that regard.
