  1. For $100 less you can get one without the keyboard hacked off. Pretty awful tho - get an AN1z instead.

  2. Looks like they're also selling the keybed as well.

  3. Speaking of the AN1x - Yamaha really missed the boat on providing that in a rack module. I think that would have sold well.

Yamaha has all but given up on its analog and physical modeling technologies. What a shame - they have some good sounding stuff in those areas.

  4. pretty awful really. Whats the point of having an oversized crap synth. The only good thing about the CS1x is the keyboard.

  5. And for the keys:

  6. cs1x is not so bad...for the price at least.I can't see the point with an1x , this completely different machine with the same "look".
Anyway this keyboarless version is awful. There's no really a space gain, the cs1x is so small and not heavy.

  7. I can see why so many of you have a problem with this:

It's creative, unique and took hard work.

Three things you clowns know little about.

  9. Why would someone buy the controls off an old washing machine?

  11. Agreed with anonymous #5: synth geeks are worse than hip-hop nerds are far as armchair criticism goes, especially when digital vs analog snobbery comes into play. I thought it was a cool mod, and dare I say that the CS1X is a future classic.

  12. It does sort of look like part of the console from a 1960s mainframe.

  13. I think it looks awful your not saving much space and where are you gonna put it. It won't fit on a rack, you can't put it on a keyboard stand. What are you going to do with it. Just sit it on a table taking up loads of room or across the top of 2 rack stands.

Just because I don't like it doesn't mean I'm a synth fanboy. It simply means I think its not a very good idea. If it was a good idea I'd like it. I have a CS1x and its not great but taking away the keyboard would make it a lot worse.

I suppose there is technical skill in actually doing it and in that regaurd it's always good to see experimentation. I just think this experiment failed.

  14. Before you try and appreciate unique craftsmanship, you might try getting a handle on the English language first.

  15. You won't have to grasp your mule's cheecks and spread them as far to stick this one up it.

May I remain an anomalous name in fear of the grammatically correctest retort.

  16. just made one. my CS1X had a dead keybed.

  17. Yeah, I love my CS1x. I don't care for the XG sounds, although it's nice to have access to a basic grand piano sound since it's the only synth of mine that can do that, and being able to apply cutoff and resonance to some of those sounds makes them reasonable. It's Performance mode has some great sounds, for instance Jupiter Strings sound closer to a Roland Jupiter than anything my other synths can do, and the Prophet Bass is pretty spot on too. Other than that, there are some really good sounds in this, it just takes a little work at times to bring them out. I like it's sounds much better than the M-Audio Venom I used to own. I would say if you haven't played one and heard it don't knock it. I also want to point out it sits beautifully into a mix.

  18. Nice mod! Can you fit it in 19" rack?

  19. You can guarantee that whenever you read someone criticising a synth, they've probably never owned it, or have a right grump on them about anything that isn't "proper" "analog". Even though they've been proved as a group to be unable to differentiate in a blind test. It's that simple. Just ignore them, they only want to troll and get attention, they hate being ignored.
