Freezepop Forever
YouTube via usamablackbelt. What's interesting about this one is it actually names the Yamaha QY70 in it. It got me wondering how many other songs mention a synth. If you know of any feel free to share.
Update: Here's another video by Freezepop that features the QY70 and I'm guessing a KORG MicroKORG: Freezepop - Parlez-vous Freezepop?

my favorite punk/synth band "Atom and His Package" mentions his QY700 in one of his songs. He uses his sequencer for some amazing stuff. I will find out which song it is when i get home and let you know!
ReplyDeleteErasure, on one of the songs on "Circus," introduces the entire band in German, including the Oberheim Xpander, in great detail, in German. It's very nerdy. "Jeztz moechte ich vorstellen, die andere Mitleidene die Gruppe-- zuerst, die Oberheim Xpander..." And eventually, "Mr. Vincent Clarke."
ReplyDeleteFreezepop is well known in the QY-70 community. Their firsts albums were actually written entirely on the QY-70! They pushed this thing quite far. There's a lesson to take from this when you think you need yet another piece of gear...
ReplyDeleteFreezepop is horrible..
ReplyDeletetoo short says "drop a few kicks from my 808" on his shorty the pimp album. come to think of it, the 808 gets mentioned alot in rap. of course, the producers making the beats are probably using 808 samples, but i guess that's harder to rhyme.
ReplyDelete"yo yo yo, i'm m.c. p 1000 and my penis size is ample. i'm gonna make the dance floor shake with my 808 sample!."
