Damn, this is a P.I.M.P. setup. I would never have imagined it, but its kinda like peanut butter and chocolate — two great tastes that taste great together.

ReplyDeletepeanut butter and chocolate? what a clever idea. someone should make a candy like that! :)
ReplyDeletePretty cool, but the only Simmons I've heard that really did it for me was the SDS-3.
ReplyDeleteI like the SDS7 and the SDS5. What is it about the SDS3 that you liked? Did you ever personally try (and reprogram) an SDS7 or SDS5?
ReplyDeleteNo, never in person. I'm definitely no expert. Just what I've heard from internet examples I liked the SDS-3's kick alot. Blew away any TR kick I've heard (I have used many TR-x0x boxes). I also like the fact that it doesn't use XLR jacks for triggering.
ReplyDeleteYou can trigger the SDS-7 with 1/4" cables using the sequencer inputs for each channel. You should try things in person before you judge. Programmable synths are only as good as the person who programs them, and we all know sometimes the factory doesn't program patches that show off an instrument's full potential.
