"The prototype is moving along. we’re still finalizing each part of the design and trying to figure out how in the world we’re going to manufacture these. some details:* black walnut base enclosure, measuring about 10.8 inches on each side, about 1.4 inches tall
* anodized aluminum top plate, once again
* new keypad design engineered from the ground up, with several improvements and different feel than the 40h
* the grid pcb prototype was so expensive i think it made me ill, ha
we don’t have enough keypads to fill the entire plate, hence the above photo. we’ll be showing the prototype at the makerfaire in may.
we don’t expect to be shipping until early august. we may consider taking preorders on the first 100 units. we’re uncertain on the price because we haven’t secured all part sources and contracts, but we’re expecting to run between $1200 and $1500. (we’re of course hoping it will be cheaper.)
