ARP Odyssey III Slider Caps

via this auction.
Funny, I never really thought about the Mk III slider caps being different than the earlier revs. I don't think I've ever seen a shot of them on their own like this before. It's interesting that most Odysseys on ebay are the earlier Mk I and Mk II editions. Anyone know how many Mk IIIs were made in comparison to the earlier ones? I'm curious if it's a matter of the number of units made and/or if it has to do with people just wanting to hold onto their Mk IIIs. BTW, the is the last of a slew of auctions from the same seller. You can find the rest of the sellers items here. via Ethan

  1. i don't think those are mark III caps. they may be from some really limited run as there seem to be a very specfic number of caps per color. they rev took place the same time as the final 2600 rev, but i've no idea in so far as production numbers go.

  2. They definatly arn't mk I or II caps. Just guessing, but my theory is that the mk IIIs buck teethed keys make it too ugly to try to sell it, and just more worth it to keep the thing since it still probably sound like butter.

  3. You can get caps very similar to the earlier Odyssey's for just a few dollars. They fit over ALL Ody faders.

  6. Who cares?!
If people didn't care, they wouldn't put on caps in the first place or they'd sell the ones they have already.
You don't need caps to move the sliders.
    Doh!

  7. Yes, these are Mk III caps. 'orrible things. I am trying to get a set of the original caps onto my new Mk III module, but the slider stems seem to be wider by a couple of millimeters. I keep splitting the caps. I will try a heat gun on them.
