via Steve: "I thought you might be interested to know about a synth based CD being launched in an interesting and unusual way. The CD is "Blue Light" by Dreamaiden. I was the mastering engineer on the project and it is a great showcase for the capabilities of the Alesis Andromeda. With the exception of the drums, the album is almost entirely created on the Alesis. Dreamaiden also runs the Abbacadabra gallery in Second Life, where she is hosting two launch parties for the CD on the 21st and 22nd of April. There is a listening booth where tracks from the CD can be auditioned, and DJ Plum is the MC for the event which is available as an audio stream. Here is a gratuitous shot of Dreamaiden in her second life persona! :) [Note the Roland JP-8000, what looks like an OSCar and one more synth in the shot below].

Cheers
Steve"
jp-8000, oddly shaped thing with prophet panel(600 maybe?) and an equally unfortunate rendition of a jx-10.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one that finds SL disturbing? It's like... "Second Life... For those of you who don't have a first one."
ReplyDeleteWhat a waste. I'm so sick of SL.
ReplyDeleteno, you're not the only one who finds it disturbing. moreover, am i the only one who immediately thought this was an alter ego for a dude?
ReplyDelete"Second Life... For those of you who don't have a first one."
ReplyDeleteHaven't heard that one before... you get an award for best insightful thought of the year...you may pick your trophy up at the back door..
Lol Second Life is just a stupid game, what's really creepy is how seriously some people take it. If you need a good laugh, read the "Second Life Herald" which usually has furious rants by people who's e-property has been threatened or whatever the fuck.
ReplyDeleteFabius 1er ministre si Royal gagne !?
ReplyDeleteI was going to post earlier, but had nothing good to say about SL.
ReplyDeleteIt's so creepy tho (agree with you anon#2).
Why do people make bathrooms in SL? They don't have to use them. That's just insane.
And why can't it do basic real-3D modeling like Nurbs. This polygon system looks really weak. You can't do Cthulhu without nurbs!
And the lack of decent abstrations doesn't make SL easy or 'reasonable' to program.
And why is the sky empty? Why not use 3D properly? I'd love a deep 3D world like those Mobeus cities in the Incal.
And in SL, you just sort of 'wander', and not explore. How about a haunted mansion, secret doors, bizarre digital rites (hehehe) that affect physical reality around you (like, increase gravity, or reduce polygon count of beings which approach your temple).
Why do they grid it all out? By gridding things from the get-go, it imposes this 90 degree angle view on pretty much all construction. Why does SL make rounded corners hard?
And SL really doesn't know if something's made of cheeze, can't melt stuff, doesn't have water, etc..
SL is so poopy.
Second Life sucks... ¬_¬

hehe
huh huh... he said "nurbs"... heh
ReplyDeleteAh, so sad, all the closed minds! It is so typical of people to put something down they haven't actually experienced. I am definitely a female in and out of SL and I definitely have a great life inside and outside of SL. So do the other 5.5 million people inside SL, including Long Range, Regina Spektor, Duran Duran, and many other musicians, famous artists, and even omg! companies like Sony, Warner Bros., IBM, Apple, New Media Consortium, and the list goes on and on. In fact, you may want to adjust your little minds to it because IBM just dumped a huge amount of money into making the entire internet like SL. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. There is a huge creative community in Second Life but you probably don't know about that part because oops, you haven't actually been there. No matter, as I've said many times, you either get it or you don't and I have no bad feelings towards those that don't. I've loving my awesome life either way.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are all wrong.
ReplyDelete3rd life is where it's at! :)
