Huh? I'm confused. April fools was almost two weeks ago.
ReplyDeletelook in the background
ReplyDeleteshe's always been hot!
ReplyDeletewho is this person? I guess I can find out on google....
ReplyDeletei love not watching TV, reading trashy magazines, listening to the radio ( wow its been 20 years since I listened to the radio come to think of it :-)
ignorance is bliss
nice but a bit worn for her young age...she's been the star that has burned excessivly bright already, thats what the media does to you ;-)
ReplyDeletenice image anyways, thumbs up for Doepfer
ahh ok I see now she is an actress I thought she was some EMO muso.
ReplyDeleteThe Doepfer behind her does look very 70s
I just created a synth babes label and added it to the bottom of the post.
ReplyDeleteWhere are the knobs?
ReplyDeleteI had sex with her.
ReplyDelete> Where are the knobs?
ReplyDeleteyeah, i guess the photographer didn't have the AC turned up.
she was attractive before she lost all the weight... looks like a cross between a rake and a spoonhead alien now. look her up in 'buffalo 66'
ReplyDeleteThe trick is to get the fingering down right on the aftertouch to make it moan and squeal. ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha, I didn't even notice the doepfer case in the background until a second ago.
id hit it
ReplyDeleteI still think of her roles in 'The Addams Family' movies:
ReplyDelete"Wanna buy some Girl Scout Cookies?"
"Are they made with real Girl Scouts?"
or
"Why do you always dress like somebody died?"
"Wait."
Kinda makes it hard to think of her as sexy. Then I saw her on Leno a few months back. Quite vacuous. More downer.
Of course the obvious question is: WTF is that Doepfer doing in the frame?
It is hard for me to see her as sexy as well, due to her massively huge forehead. I have not seen too many people with a forehead bigger than hers. She looks very alien-esque to me. (but who knows, some of you may be into alien fornication)
ReplyDeletegee... I'm glad you guys are getting mad supermodel pussy like that to be so selective and all.
ReplyDeletepicture of cute chick next to cool synth: cool post.
Haha, she is hardly even close to supermodel status. Just you're average child actor turned "washed up at a young age" adult actor. I tend to agree with the other posts comparing her looks to a strange looking alien. Oh, and you can read the future in that big shiny forehead. Haha!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how I stumbled on it, probably a yahoo groups search, I'm not kidding here, but there's some sort of little clique out there going on for quite a few years that has just two burning interests, making EM and a particular actress. Surely this comes from them.
ReplyDeleteDidn't Murs and Slug title one of their albums after her? Probably just to get some attention from the mainstream crown that would have never heard the album otherwise.
ReplyDeleteIt is like the couch was her pants,
ReplyDeleteAnd the pants are now her couch.
Her bold statement, pose scream "tear down the curtains of" ideology, gender, politics, economics, bureaucratic machinations, culture and society, all at once!
It speaks trinity of ists: materialist, essentialist, and functionalist.
synthbaron:
ReplyDeleteknobs are not what you tweak on Christina Ricci.
Where does the Doepfer case fit in? It is obviously just a silly prop to them, nothing is even patched up. The funny thing is, the amount they probably paid the owner of the Doepfer to rent it for the photo shoot could very well have paid for the case and most of the modules! Jeez, hollywood makes me sick.
ReplyDeleteI'm sensing another oncoming UK/USA confusion over the term "knobs" pretty soon.
ReplyDeleteI already made the mistake once in a Packrat toon, preventing the toon from being published since Keyboard Mag runs identical presses in the UK and US.... I needed a crash course in cross-Atlantic slang I guess. Good thing I didn't have the character say "kiss my fanny."
Wow, what a threadjack/digression...
This is sooo awesome! I wish I was a paisley couch. K, I know this is going to sound, like, totally wack, but......I was reading the PARADE magazine that comes with the Sunday edition of the paper and she gave a legnthy interview about her career choices and family and yes, her forehead. And she came across totally cool. Excellent post, M!
ReplyDeleteBTW, US Weekly had a great article on Britney's comeback this week.
...And, although I can't stand the pumpkin colored lipstick (why?) she's wearing on the most recent Seventeen issue, Scarlett Johansson has a very adorable and quite un-synth-related photo-montage that's off-topically worth checkin' out, homies. Bliss, BTW, is ignorance...
Ok, I'll bite. What did she say about her forhead? : )
ReplyDeleteAs for non-synth shots, stick a synth in the shot and I'll put it up. : )
I'm betting the doepfer was photoshopped, but who knows... It would be pretty cool if someone at th shoot thought it would make a good addition.
Ha, I've seen this photo set of Ricci before and I can confirm that the Doepfer synth is definitely photoshopped in. It was most definitely not in the original shot and if you look close you can see by the edges of the Doepfer that it does not match and was added in photoshop by someone.
ReplyDeleteThat poor girl looks like she hasn't eaten in a week and just got through with a high colonic and a serious barf session.
ReplyDeleteYou folks who think shes pretty are perpetuating the sickness...our daughters are killing themselves to be more skeletal than each other.
Whoever wrote that last post must be obese...
ReplyDeleteYou synth nerds are criticizing Christina Richie? Good luck getting any ever from better.
ReplyDeleteMost of us have. If she looks hot to you, thats fine. But you must realize, to most she looks very weird.
ReplyDeleteFYI the STG Fidelity Sound Lab has a paisley couch bequethed to it by Five12.com's evacuation of their Chicago division. its primary use is for accomodating guests of the studio during its regular 19" widescreen LCD screenings of Doctor Who and Life on Mars, and most recently to assist me in matching hundreds of polystyrene capacitors to less than 1% tolerance during an extended viewing of Knight Rider episodes which feature music by Mike Peake's dad.
ReplyDeletepaisley couches are vital for exploration of electronic music in any of its digital or analogue forms and i strongly recommend them for anyone serious about the genre.
Ha! There's some pretty decent pussy staring us right in the face and suit and tie guy goes on a rant tryin' to tie in things about paisley couches...
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't dare touch his synth collection with a ten foot pole speakin' that kinda talk...
For some, there are girls and for others,... well I geuss synths.
Alright guys, let's end it on this:
ReplyDeleteI never really found Ms. Ricci particularly hot but I don't doubt I would enjoy a full spread of her in a few tasty positions sportin' mother natures gifts in a Hustler magazine spread. Hell, I might even go outta my way to buy it!
HERE YE!!!!!
It's real easy to be an armchair chick judge but if If Cristina wanted to come over your place and play with your modular (and you)I nary a guess any dude would not shiver in his BVD's.
ReplyDeleteyeah, couldn't find the parade article Matrix, however, she did have all kinds of identity and self image, weight, and forehead issues :]
ReplyDeletewhat i find so fascinating about this thread is how powerfully hegemonic a stance everyone has taken. What i think are really the core issues here have nothing to do with C.R., Doepfer, armchairs, masturbating, or whatever. But rather that someone (likely) photoshopped together two emotionally resonant forms to commit an aesthetic decision---the kind of aesthetic decision MS readers totally wig out over:

ReplyDeleteAnonymous No 21, you're a pussy (and not the kind i enjoy interacting with on a physical level.) also, your dismissal of my synth collection based on its relationship to Doctor Who and actually having friends belies your complete lack of understanding of the nature of electronic music.
ReplyDeleteabstracting the EM zeitgeist to a binary classification of !synths and !picturesofgirls while ignoring the power of the paisley couch and its unstated influence in nailing really hot women whose favourite artist is Vangelis is an example of your criminally negligent musicality and i hope to enjoy never encountering you in person or on MySpace.
To be fair, I dont think that looks suits her.. other than that she's cute..
ReplyDeleteAnd you know.. I prestidigitate that "i'd hit it" will become the goddy of this blog.
I've allways fancied that bird from lost in space.. (the late 90's movie) lacy something something..
I'd hit it..XD
I'd do her, right on that couch! ...right on that forehead!
ReplyDeletesorry dudes.. but the photo is pretty unrealistic, babes aren't going to just hang out while you tweak your "tom sawyer" synth lead patch for 4 hours.
ReplyDeletebut don't despair, in comparison, paisley couches are much more attainable.
PS. if anything, chicks dig "bug music" ;)
