Cirocco Modular Synthesizers

Modular system by Phil Cirocco. Title link takes you there. These are available now. Be sure to check out these previous CMS posts. CMS specializes in ARP repair and restoration and Phil fully restored a Hammond Novachord, a polyphonic synthesizer by Hammond from 1939. There are samples on the Novachord Restoration Project site.

  3. I would rather have one of these than the banjo machine.

  4. Then you better buy one now.
He told me he's going to stop making them.

    Like Wiard?

  6. I would like one of these, plus the Banjomatic. These modules by themselves are a bit pedestrian, albeit well made.

    MP3?

  7. I think he got to end selling because these modules are way to much monney for us.

  8. What did Wiard stop making Jay?

  10. yeah,if it can't make those killer buchla banjo sounds,it would be a very useless modular.

  11. Seems to me if Phil marketed these systems better, he wouldn't have to be considering stopping production. The CMS site is a pain, it doesn't have information on the individual modules itself, just unenlargeable pictures, few sound examples, and so on. Yes, his stuff is expensive, and I know for a fact that the build quality is top-shelf...but how do you know what you'd be able to get? Well, you don't, unless you squint REALLY hard at the screen and then use your imagination about what the results might sound like.

  12. The price is really what puts this out of reach. I agree the web site does not help in promoting the product. I think Phil is so swamped with vintage ARP repairs and mods that he won't miss the modular market, which is limited to begin with, not withstanding the few sales of these labor intensive and very costly modules.

  13. Trues, the site isn't exactly slick, but he's had closeup pictures for each of the modules for at least a couple years.

  14. I hope he don't stop to manufacture them..

He just should put some other knobs on it..black aluminium,verniers,etc..

They are ugly into a rack...better into wooden cabinets..

  15. maybe this is why he people say he never replies to calls or emails. not very professional :(

  16. the ONLY maker of real modular stuff who responds to email and actually picks up the phone himself...is bruce duncan of modcan. and he actually delivers the stuff when he says he will. amazing in this market.

  17. I can't speak for everyone, but you can almost set a watch on when Bruce Duncan says your modules will be delivered. Good management.

    What a guy! (tear)

  18. slightly off topic but still synth related. . . and even more so because of the nature of what he does. you know who still answers the phone at work (or returns your call that day??? Dave Smith. that's who! Amazing.

  19. three cheers for david smith and modcan. i refuse to do business with people who neglect communication. if they cant take the time to communicate with me, theres no way im going to send them my stuff or money! some people are too forgiving of this sort of behavior. :(

  20. Well, if we're talking about responsive synth makers, you have to add two more to the list: Dieter Doepfer (who's actually a major active player on Doepfer's Yahoo forum) and Cynthia Webster, who returned a response to a question I had within an hour's time via email. It's very true...there's no excuse for slacky, sketchy response in this day and age.

  21. OK, I'll jump in. Grant Richter was great when it came down to communication and delivery times while building my system 300. You gotta use the phone with him though, he much prefers to actually talk to you than email. Fancy that!

Back on topic, where are some mp3's of these Discrete modulars?????

  22. The Arricks over at DotCom have excellent communication as well.

  23. Just about every modular maker is prompt with their communication and shipping. MOTM is an exception.
