243 Programmable Pulser

flickr by verbos2002.

"Finally finished and working. This is my custom designed and built Programmable Pulser. It's based on a 246 core, but with changes to make it easier to source the parts. The LEDs are real pretty. Like a Christmas tree. What's great about this is that there is a pulse out and pulse in on each step. So there is no need for a reset input. Any step can be the start and any one can be the end. A row can be fed into the stage 1 pulse input to make a reset row. The analog input sweeps between steps with a 0-15 volt CV."

  1. What does the programmable pulser do?

Can you set it up to specifically plug certain banjo strings? :)

    Is it a general sequencer?

    it is pretty

  2. according to the buchla user group, mark will make one for you (for a price obviously). it is also of note that he is developing a buchla format shift register as well.

i guess in short it generates analog pulses, who issuance is predicated upon the position of pins in a matrix.

  3. Actually there are no pins on the Verbos pulser, just toggle switches. Incidentally, the thing is built like a tank & works like a charm.

  4. I would love if Don opened up the 200e format, in that you could buy an electronic 'base' module to which you could add a) the sonic engine, b) the user interface.

That would be very wild indeed.
