Seems that Greenwood is actually playing an Analogue Systems French Connection controller - his right thumb is operating the Ondes-Martenot style slide ring and his left hand is pressing the large pressure sensitive button. Pity we don't get to see the actual synth it's controlling.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a TR909 that Yorke starts at the beginning, and of course he's playing a Rhodes.
That's right, I forgot what it was called and the Analog Systems site wasn't loading for me last night. It is now and it was definitely the French Connection. Thanks. Post updated.
ReplyDeleteyeah, there is an awesome clip of the French Connection and the analogue systems on an SNL Radiohead clip.....wow, it blew me away when i first saw it....I have the clip on my PC but since it was a SNL clip (NBC) Youtube is not allowed to have it up....if you can find it I highly suggest you watch it.
ReplyDeleteSearch for: Radiohead, SNL, National Anthem
oh wait...i found it!

That's a really nice soft Rhodes sound he's getting there. That is a shame that they don't show the actual synth...
