Analogue Systems RS240 Bode/Moog Frequency Shifter

"The module has been infrequently used. There is some rack rash as shown in photographs. This listing is only for the RS240 Module and the Doepfer to Analogue Systems power adapter in the power connector, see photo. It does not come with a power cable. The module functioned properly when I tested it last week. The module is not specifically in a Eurorack format (see the Analogue Systems website), but fits nicely in a Eurorack case.

With regard to the adapter to allow use of a "Doepfer" style power cable be sure to align the red stripe on the Doepfer power cable with the end noted "Red" on the PCB. There is also a red stripe on the adapter. It works fine with the +/-12 and +5 volt supply from a Doepfer power supply.

If you are not familiar with Analogue Systems or this particular module, I suggest going to the Analogue Systems web site for more information and the manual. Big City Music also has a listing for a new module with a link on their page for an installation guide.

Analogue Systems

This is an amazing and accurate reproduction of the original Bode/Moog 1630 Frequency shifter in a wonderfully compact form. It has all the features of the Bode/Moog 1630. One very nice and notable behavior is there is no "dead zone" when shifting through zero. Many (all?) the original/vintage Bode/Moog 1630 Frequency Shifters exhibit an annoying dead zone when shifting through zero (I know that at least one of the modern clones has a "dead zone" as well*). That is, the shifter stops shifting the frequency creating a region where no shift occurs as one approaches and moves through zero. The Analogue Systems RS240 doesn't do this. Rather, there is a smooth transition through zero which is far more useful and the correct behavior.

SynthAl on YouTube has a short video which seems to show this 'dead zone.' [see here] "

Analogue Systems Modular System

"Really cool and versatile complete synth voice in a rack with some bonus effects and a sequential switch. Analogue systems are very nicely designed and simple modules. The case and power are superior to doepfer, imo. Lots of space for extra modules and has power sockets for 14 ASYS style connectors, 8 standard eurorack and even 2 frac rack. Nut strips are 2.5mm, so I’ll include a bag of extra screws. This system includes:

RS-15 integrator 6u 84HP standard rackmount case with linear psu and toroidal transformer

RS-60 ENVELOPE GENERATOR

RS-80 VC LFO

RS-90 VCO

RS-95 VCO

RS-120 COMB FILTER (crazy sounding and fun)

RS-150 SEQUENTIAL SWITCH

RS-180 VCA

RS-310 REVERB/CHORUS (noisy and unusual)

All Modules are tested, often used and are functional as far as I can tell, but are 20+ years old at this point, so no guarantees or refunds. Case and power are solid, but well-used. Rack rash, etc to be expected. System is currently set up for 120V, but can be switched to 220V. I’ll include a North-American ac cable if the purchaser is in a region that uses it."

Analogue Systems Rs Integrator System, EMS Synthi Filter + Trapezoid Generator

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Rare analogue systems integrator system with EMS synthi filter and trapezoid generator.

These units and modules are difficult to source these days but we’re very popular back in the early days of eurorack modular. Audio and voltage signals fully compatible with Doepfer systems but you will require an adapter cable to plug these modules into a Doepfer power supply and vice versa.

Everything is in great functioning condition for its age. Comes with 8 cables to get you started.

All the choices in the Eurorack space can be fun but nothing quite compares to a full modular setup made up of modules designed to be used together!"

SuonoBuono - Lazer

video upload by NOISEBUG

With and Analogue Systems modular.

LAZER is a unique laser-based music controller.

Thanks to its rich set of outputs, it can control external MIDI instruments and effects, analog synthesizers and virtual instruments in a DAW such as Ableton Live, Cubase or Logic. It also has an on-board lo-fi oscillator that can drive headphones (for live tracking) or be used as an audio source.

LAZER is completely standalone and does not require a computer. It is ideal for live jams!

The sensor measures the distance from the hand and transforms it into MIDI, analog and audio signals, according to user settings. Its 1mm (circa) resolution and the configurable range up to 50cm allow for precise control of sensitive parameters such as pitch and filter frequency.

LAZER does not require wearing any wearables and can be used in most light conditions with bare hands. It should however be avoided to point strong light sources directly to the sensor. Multiple LAZERs can be used simultaneously without interfering with each other.

"The RS-100 24dB/oct low-pass filter imitates the Minimoog's filter and exhibits almost identical characteristics in both the frequency domain (i.e. what it does to audio signals) and the time domain (i.e. its response over time to CVs). Below the cut-off frequency the response is approximately flat down to DC. With the filter fully open, it will pass signals approaching 20kHz."

See the seller's other items for more.

"The Trapezoid Generator module is made under license of the EMS and is a remake of the EMS envelope shaper known from VCS3, Synthi A and AKS. It is a very unique modulator which can be used as a trapeze or triangle shape LFO and/or a attack-hold-decay envelope generator. It's flexible, weird and totally different from an ADSR."

Analogue Systems - RS-95e

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via NOISEBUG Reverb

"The RS95 is a premium, british sounding VCO with waveshaping possiblities.

It is based on the RS90 but has more features, predominantly a very special sine wave. The RS95e presented here is technically identical but instead a normal frequency control it features a gorgeous, lockable (!) potentiometer with ten turns. That allows precise fine tune control and adds the look of an EMS synthesizer to the VCO. The RS95e has three audio outputs: pulse, triangle and sine. The upper shape control affects the pulse width. The lower shape control not only morphs from a falling sawtooth over triangle to a rising saw (or: ramp) but simultaneously alters the sine wave and produces a kind of smoothed, softer sawtooth. Additionally the saw/sine output is a CV-INPUT for the symmetry of the sine. Very extraordinary feature that all are voltage controllable. The oscillator sync is ?soft? and not only reacts to square waves but works with all waveforms. The frequency control has three switchable modes: STD (standard) with a range of two octaves. -2 is two octaves lower than STD. WIDE mode gives a range from 0.3 Hz - 17kHz and thus allows use of the RS-95 as VC-LFO with waveshaping options! The ?vary? control not only attenuates but also can amplify the pitch CV. It controls linearly from 0V over 1V/oct to 0.4 V/oct."

Analogue Systems - RS-310 Reverb/Chorus (Dual Bus)

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via NOISEBUG Reverb

"RS-310 is a Reverb/Chorus module with voltage control of dry / wet mix and the delay time. It creates flanger and chorus effects but also short echos and reverbs.

The module is based on a bucket brigade device with six parallel delay taps. Those six delay times have no relationship to each other and their outputs have different levels. You have to consider the chorus/reverb effect as a mixture of six different short delays what results in a dense sound. The clock frequency which scans the bucket brigade is audible and you´ll have to use a low pass filter in order to eliminate or minimize it. The delay time can be set with the according control between 2.5ms and 150ms. CV control gives you much shorter / longer delay times. The resonance has to be considered as the delay´s feedback parameter and it can go up to self-oscillation. The dry / wet relation can be controlled manually and with a CV.

This Dual Bus version features two power connectors, meaning it can be directly connected to either an Analog Systems or a Doepfer modular system. – Adapters are no longer necessary.

Analogue Systems - RS-130 Programmable Scale Generator

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via NOISEBUG Reverb

"The Programmable Scale Generator exceeds the possibilities of an ordinary quantiser module.

While a quantiser usually is chromatic only and with a little luck it allows major and minor scales, a programmable scale generator like the RS-130 makes it possible to freely program scales beyond the customary semitone scale with all their derivates. Scales with quarter-note or eighth-note intervals are possbile which is important e.g. for indian or oriental music. Two modes determine when quantisation takes place: in "free run" it happens only when input voltage changes. In "gate" mode quantisation happens when the RS-130 receives a gate signal.

Six quantisation modes are available:

- Quantiser: Acts as a normal chromatic quantiser for semitones

- C major scale: when offset = 0 and no CV at the transpose input it creates only a C major scale (C, D, E, F, G, A, B)

- C minor scale: when offset = 0 and no CV is present at the transpose in, only a C minor is created (C, D, Eb, F, G, Ab, Bb)

- C major Arpeggio: when offset = 0 and no CV is present at the transpose in, only a C major arpeggio is created (C, E, G)

- C minor arpeggio: when offset = 0 and no CV is present at the transpose in, only a C minor apreggio is created (C, Eb, G)

- user memory mode: creates user programmed scales.

When setting a fixed voltage with the offset control (0-2V, ie. two octaves offset), you apply a fixed transposition to the scale. Any possible scale can be set when you use the transpose CV inputs in addition. At each quantisation process a trigger signal will fired at the trig out which you can use for clocking a sequencer or a launching envelopes.

Power consumption: 110mA

Analogue Systems - RS-140 MIDI/CV Converter

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via NOISEBUG Reverb

"The RS-140 converts MIDI messages into control voltages and due to its numerous analog outputs it gives you plenty of possibilities to control your modular system with MIDI.

Besides the usual CV and gate outputs in addition it offers flexible controller outputs and it´s big backlit display and four function buttons make it easy to use. In the CV menu you can set the voltage characteristic of the CV outputs (either 1V/octave or 1.02V/oct as the Minimoog had), the note range of the pitchbend wheel and the modulation depth of the internal LFO. This LFO can be synchronized to MIDI Clock, has several wave forms and MIDI-controlled level. Both CV outputs carry the same signal and they are active buffered. Each trigger socket can output a gate, a trigger or a S-trigger (for old Moogs), either as multi trigger or single trigger. Alternatively you can output the MIDI clock that´s rate can be divided down in 9 settings. Controller: each controller output can be assigned to one of 128 Control Change commands, the pitch bend wheel, velocity or aftertouch (plus the internal LFO for controller output 1). Besides that you can set one of four output voltage ranges (0 bis 5V; -5V bis 0V; -2,5V bis 2,5V und -5V bis 5V). All settings can be saved in the non-volatile memory and you have 64 memory slots. Each of them can be recalled by Controlb Change messages.

90s Modular Synthesizer: Analogue Systems RS-8000 Sequence #Shorts

video by Elliott Liu

"Analogue Systems started in 1995 with Bob Williams starting production of a modular system. Unaware at the time, it was similar in size and power specification to the now standard Eurorack format.

Here I'm MIDI sequencing a 3 voices independently and controlling the balance of each of them."

Short one, but you don't see demos of the RS8000 often. Analogue Systems was part of the birth of the modular resurgance back when only a handful of manufacturers existed. AS and Doepfer were the first to produce 3U modules, although with different power schemes. Doepfer eventually became the standard and the eurorack format as we know it today was born.
