  6. hi ho

this is to much gear to make good music ....

  7. He doesn't make good music, he just worries about 'the death of synthesis' and lectures people about how insipid they are compared to him.

He fakes images with photoshop and tries to pass them off as reality. Then he's indignant when people have the audacity to doubt any of his claims.

    Real 'interesting' guy.

  8. Photoshop indeed.

  9. Major hoarding of Jupiters, definately a fetish thing, which manifests into a obsessive compulsive behavior, not uncommon amongst collectors. It is a very nice collection indeed.

  15. He's basically just a raging egotist with no social skills who craves attention. We're talking about him the same way people would talk about someone masturbating in public at the local mall..it isn't because he's interesting.

He might be passing off samples as subtractive synth programming: it wouldn't be the first scam he's perpetrated just to get attention and have a laugh. Rather than substantiate his claims with a simple sysex dump (because he doesn't have time and we aren't worthy), he just long-windedly berades people who doubt him. Until he puts his money where his mouth is, he's just full of sh!t and invites derision. That's not an expression of interest, it's just wanting a loudmouth jackass to put up or shut up.

And those of us who know what he's about would perhaps like to help people coming across his fake stuff for the first time not get sucked in by his egotistical foolishness.

  16. Wow, I thought the internet stopped being like this in 1997.

  17. I don't understand why people hate Elhardt guy so much. To the guy who said he uses "samples," or "midi sysex," I doubt it, his recordings that he presents are much too complex to use merely that. IF, and I say IF he is faking it, he is using recordings, not samples. (that aside he specificially notes when he is using samples, such as in one recording with "piano" accompanyment. That aside, for people who think that physical models can't be realistic, just listen to patches by Chet Singer or play around with a Yamaha VL-1 and then tell me it's "sampled."

Who cares if he is "interesting" or not, his waveguides are interesting, and I believe that they are real based on the fact that he often describes the techniques to the extent that I think he has a strong understanding of acoustics, and a damn good ear. That aside, many of his recordings aren't quite perfect, again indicating to me that they are most likely real.

I think the bottom line is that he rubs dorks the wrong way, and so some people don't take him seriously. Not because they don't think he knows what he's talking about, but because they don't like him personally Their loss.

To be fair, this photograph could very well be a fake, he did a practical joke of some fictional synthesizer in the past. But I don't have reason to believe that his audio stuff is fake.
