ac posted this image on AH. I asked him if it would be ok to put up a post here as a follow up to
this post (and those linked in it), touching on the differences between the OB-X, OB-SX, and the OB-Xa. He gave the thumbs up. Thanks ac. This is a really nice shot of the board. Click on it to see the detail. You will see the following chips.
2 x CEM3340 VCO
2 x CEM3310 VC Envelop
1 x CEM3320 VC Filter
You can read more about the actual chips
here.
PCB's always remind me of a Krell city.
ReplyDeletewhen i zoomed in on this image, I wanted to wipe the dust off the parts with my fingers...
ReplyDeletethe box cap soldered directly to the leads of the 3320 is a nice touch. the diode and cap mounted in the same location is also cool. the don't make boards like this anymore. do they?
ReplyDeleteThat box cap across the 3320 is not standard... Some hack/fix...
ReplyDeleteI have an OB-SX and one of the voice boards WILL NOT stay in tune. Do I need to replace the CEM3340 VCO chip(s) on that board? I know these things are very prone to tuning problems. Excuse my naive question! Also can you get ROMs with other sounds on?
